  1. Leafs fans – ask yourself this: would you accept a Matthews move, if it meant (goaltending + defense + quality forwards) and, you go deep or even win a Cup. This is what is needed/required. Something has to give….?

  2. Sheldon Keefe lost his job because the Leafs don’t want to play a defensive game. Two guys out of the Top 4 disappear in every play off series. If the Leafs had played all their games against Boston the way they did in games 5, 6 & most of game 7 (until the very end) when Ilya, Mitch and Mo did not recognize the set play that Pastrnak was making right before their very eyes. Maybe the Leaf players don’t believe in they have to play to win 16 games in the play offs because they don’t earn any extra cash for the battles they have to win within series of games they would have to play. Maybe the NHL pay structure needs to be blown up and the players begin to get paid once they win, similar to golf. It could be a huge cash prize, but no money is paid out until the games are won. ☝🏻

  3. This team should have cleaned house. They basically did nothing. And I bet they will stick with the core 4. Hey but jersey sales are up.

  4. Old and retired versions of Wendel Clark and Doug Gilmour would still play with more heart than these millennial Bieber boys

  5. Leaf fans are quickly over-taking Montreal for having the strongest ankles in the NHL, from jumping on and off the bandwagon year in and year out.

  6. What is this obsession with not moving Nylander. One dimensional player who also disappears in the playoffs.

  7. Safety first!
Need to be careful of anything Shanahan touches going forward. He appears to have lost his MoJo, for good reason, due to very high playoff expectations this year. This lack of confidence in his future as president is clear from the wobbly, funeral press meet with his 2 office mates. His 'heads will roll' message did not fly well with media asking about his own high paying contract. Shanni's new chat sounds very much like the Shanni's old chat. Albeit with less confidence this round. Beware, as he thinks about his own uncertain job security, other more valuable team assets could be damaged from a wounded presidential ego with no more time to waste. A new project for this warrior in the NHL maybe best for leaf nation.

  8. Job #1 is to send Shanahan packing. The entire make-up of the team, the no-trade clauses, the concentration of $$ among the core 4, is his responsibility. A decade of the Shanaplan has proven to be a failure.

The fact that he wasn't let go the same day as Keefe tells anyone who's paying attention that the Leafs are not interested in winning. They're just interested in maintaining a fan base that will continue to buy tickets at inflated prices.

Leafs fans, _this is on you_. If you continue to support mediocrity, then that's what you'll continue to get.

  9. The Leafs should have NEVER signed Nylander! He should have been moved, he's get points but can't check, can't hit, has zero heart! He's the type of player that takes the team no where.

  10. None of these guys should be untouchable. Matthews at $13.25 million probably doesn't have that much trade value.

  11. Nylander is more dangerous than Auston in the playoffs, trust me Elliot. You can take that to the bank. Just use the eye test.

  12. Matthews is a proven playoff disappointment. Domi outplayed Matthews in the playoffs this year. Matthews likely would be an elite playoff winger – but the Leafs have a better playoff record without Matthews in their lineup at centre. 😀

  13. Matthews should be the first to go. Unable to elevate his game in the post season, lack of leadership qualities. Complaining about one mild hit – Pastrnak got around ten hard hits during the series against the Leafs. Did he complain? No. He took it and kept fighting. At the end he got a deciding goal. That's a leader! Matthews? Wouldn't survive a half of those hits.
