It was a cross check that hit him in the face because he was going down from a cross check to his back. Who was 8nvoved should NOT matter. One rule book for all.

Whatever. Player safety is a joke. McDavid and refs are a joke. So they suspend Soucy a game. He comes back in game five and you’ve given him reason to actually take the head off of someone.
I thumbs downed this because johnston seems to always be inl8ne with whatever the league wants. Never calls it l8ke it is. Are we getting a suspension on the spear to groin of hoglander?. How about mcdavid bear hugging a player as he tries to go around him or stick to face of hughes causeing a cut or 2 handed slash to soucy which initiated not only the soucy retaliating but the big Z crosscheck sticking up for teammate
If Morgan Reilly got 5 games for that half asses crosscheck to the head then this cross check deserves at least the same.
CJ downplaying McDavid instigating the whole thing..Zadorov got a $5000 fine and Soucy getting a phone hearing but McDavid get NOTHING? I know the severity by McDavid slash is not as severe but he gotta be fined as well if the Canucks players are the only one getting punished

The inconsistency everyone talks about is because there's no standard, they look at everything as a case by case. And they take the players' defense into consideration, too. In this case, Soucy could argue that it wasn't his intention to hit McDavid's face, and if player safety looks at this and agrees, then the punishment would be lower than if they don't. I think player safety is right to take things on a case by case basis. What Sousy did in retaliation is different from Rielly just being mad at an empty net goal. Both actions are wrong but not the same, so the punishment shouldn't be the same either.
My big issue here is no fine or anything for McDavid for his slash. That says he's allowed to injure or attempt to injure anyone he wants with no consequences. That's going to cause more problems than anything. Because the players will continue to police themselves and feel justified to do so.
But he could use his paddle to make that save, it's interference i believe. Peace ✌️ 😎.

4:52 Mark Chris says " we cant have people hitting other people in the face with a stick" so by that logic McSlasher shouldn't have even been in game 3 because he slashed Quinn Hughes in the face and drew blood. Yes Soucey has to be in control of his stick, he also doesn't have a history of incidents like this, a one game suspension is warranted anymore and its complete BS. If McDavid skates away at the end of the game and doesn't axe chop Soucey he doesn't get cross-checked.

Allowing the Sam Bennett play that should have been goalie interference sets a dangerous precedent that will be blatantly ignored when someone does that to a Panthers player into Bob. WORST LEAGUE WITH THE MOST COWARDLY LEADERSHIP.

Is there a possibility for the Leafs to renegotiate Tavares contract, have him sign for a lesser amount next year while adding 2 or 3 additonal years to be an assistant coach or even an assistant player coach? Would that affect next years cap hit? Or, would it not even be allowed under the NHL rules.
I don't understand why Boston fans would complain about the interference thing as if it matters. I lost count how many times a bad call was made on the Leafs that could have made a difference, but the reality was, the Leafs were never the better team regardless and Boston was horribly outplayed on Sunday as well. Just accept your team is not the better team here and that your team is going to lose regardless if the refs help you or hurt – it will not matter. Florida will win. Enjoy the 2nd round for what it is.
Fans would have a point if their team was objectively playing better and the refs were screwing them, but that's just not the case here. They stink when they compare to Florida. Florida is 2x as good.
