Carolina has so many UFA & RFA guys. And very key ones at that.
I think Carolina could have retained Jake. Had they taken their cup window more seriously. It blows my mind they weren't trying harder a 1 to 3 years ago.
But for Jake. With all the uncertainty of the roster. There not being any pedigree or commitment to chase the stanley cup year in & year out. And really be willing to take some homerun shots at it. Whether the result becomes disastrous or not.

Look… Jake has been underpaid his entire career to this point. We signed him at the perfect time w this last contract.
Jake is probably looking to upgrade his house regardless of what city that's in. He has a growing family.

Goaltending is the weakest link on both the Avs and Oilers and both teams would absolutely be looking to upgrade if they are eliminated this year. I think Rutherford in Vancouver would potentially be interested too given they are down to their third string. Jarry can be dealt.

Great suggestion….I think Jarry is an average NHL goalie. His split between first half and second half of season over his career is so obvious and alarming…… .920 save percentage October to December, .890-,900 from January to April. Just because he is average, I wouldn't keep him. Trade to the west…take your chances with Ned and Blomqvist….they won't be worse than him that is for sure……and for godsake do whatever you need to do to get Jake back ….. for Sid's sake, for the Pens playoffs sake, for creating a balance set of lines sake, for not making your opponents better. I've watched the Carolina and Rangers series, Guentzel is a big game player, they don't grow on trees….especially ones that connect with Sid as well as he does…..great monologue today

I think a 'Daily Shot' with the title 'Would the Penguins be Wests' best" would be a good one. The Pens have much more a team problem than a goalie problem. The Pens dont do well in the playoffs and now dont even make the playoffs because they are not nearly strong and physical enough to contend well with how hockey is played in the Eastern Conference. The play in the East is a lot more aggressive/physical/dirty than in the West and the Pens would do better in the West because of their lack of tough physical play…This reflects in Jarry's play since Jarry does not get much help at all from his team mates so any Pittsburgh goalie would be better in the West. Ed
Um. Did you check the stats. Oettinger has a 919 save % and a 2.12. GAA this playoffs. That's doing nothing? Also, why would any of the West team's want Jarry when they could have Ned, who the Pittsburgh media believes is the greatest goalie we've ever seen, for probably $2m. Good lord.

But you clearly dont watch Dallas… Georgiv is better. Aiden Hill and Logan Thompson are better. I am not even going to talk about the rest of the west. Jarry has never won a thing.
