  1. Marner is a skilled player but a lousy hockey player. He is useless in the playoff setting!

  2. Moronto media chased Kadri out of town so he could win a Cup so maybe the same thing is happening with Marner. So let’s trade a Career +110 guy and keep a D Man, Reilly with a Career -9.

  3. This team is built on FEAR from top to bottom. From the owner and management to they players and towel cleaners. Cowards, all of them. Every single decision above the ice and every play on it is all based on fear. I'm cheering for Edmonton for now on. They know no fear, it's crazy exciting to watch. 20 years in the military has taught me what a COWARD looks like, and I know how useless and dangerous they are. Toronto Maple Leafs = Cowards

  4. Leaf fans "they can't run it back again." Guess what….sure looks like it…..and Management will expect a different result….then be surprised when they poop the bed again

  5. It's their own fault. They had two positions they could have taken to move away from the big 4 last year. It's what Dubas said he wanted to do in the off season and they fired him. Now they are having second thoughts and want to do it and they literally can't. Super stupid.

  6. Let’s run it back again with no changes and expect a different result! The Marner apologists need to shut their holes. He choked in the playoffs every year, especially in close out games.

  7. What do you mean it's near impossible to trade a player who:

    1. Cannot play to level of his contract in tight-checking style games (i.e. the playoffs)…

    2. Has a contract signed by a GM & a team President who had a great idea BEFORE Covid hit, but then they refused to adjust when it became evident that the ''sign long-term to keep talent'' strategy didn't work…

    3. Has a NTC and is salivating the chance to test free-agency after another full season of playing with Matthews, Nylander and/or Tavares for the bulk of this season…

    4. Has no intention of ''doing a favour'' for Toronto by waiving his NTC in a contract season!

  8. Gentlemen who gives a rats ass about the kadri trade that’s done long ago I love marner wish he would retire a leaf but this is not the case now so here is my trade proposal marner lilejgren jarnkrok to Calgary for markstrom and Anderson this gives the the leafs a number 1 goalie and a number 1 defence man to play with Reilly then they add montour and pesce via free agency now this solves two issues for the leafs

  9. You guys just don't get it! They don't have to win the Marner trade. They can trade him for picks and it is irrelevant! Boston lost the Joe Thornton trade on paper, but the cap space they freed up allowed them to sign their juggernaut captain, Zdeno Chara, who brought them a cup! The cap space Mitch frees up can allow Toronto to go get a Norris caliber defenseman, which is what they need. Sorry, Morgan Rielly is not it!

  10. A final look at the core 4,I wouldn’t mind the boys haven’t seen their prime yet,so I would like to see them play together again….if anybody needs to go I don’t know whom that would be ,but good luck 😁👍boys

  11. I am a big fan of marner and I own his jersey. BUT
Marner played an important role during the Knights' 2016 playoff run, resulting in the team winning the OHL Championship. He led the playoffs in scoring and with 44 points in 18 games and was awarded the Wayne Gretzky 99 Award as playoff MVP. Marner helped lead the Knights in winning the 2016 Memorial Cup.
That’s what the article states but funny enough max Domi was captain of that team and they won. Now after the 23/24 playoffs who would you say is worth it? 1 year 3mil for Domi or marner making 10.9mil a year?

  12. Every team needs a grinder on the top line. Bozak, Kadri, Bunting, Hyman, Domi, Bertuzzi those have been our options. How many good key forwards has Toronto traded to win the cup? Domi and Bert we have now, they need to be resigned. Bunting should never have been traded.
Domi and bertuzzi both took a while to get going but once they did that 1st line with Matthew’s Domi and bertuzzi was dangerous and it felt like a real playoff line.

  13. Toronto fans are the worst, always have been. Booed Hall of Famer Larry Murphy out of town who went on to win two more cups with Detroit. Pretty much chased Kessel out of town as well who went on to win two cups (and is probably a Hall of Famer when all is said and done). Same with Kadri, fans chased him out of town and won a cup soon after. Completely disagree with Steve on it. Elite players need to step up in the playoffs. If you are losing because your third line center is being kicked from the series, you really need a shake up what you consider the top end talent on your team. I guess we are going to be adding Marner to that list eventually.

  14. You people need to be realistic. Marner and Traverse are not going anywhere. They are selfish and will not waive their no movement clause. Worst case scenario is you let them walk on July1st 2025. You free up over 20 million in cap space. Go out and get a number 1 goalie and defenseman and better supporting cast. Knies and Minton will have another year of experience and Cowan will make the team. Repeat after me – Leafs have no cap space to make the team better for the 2024/25 season. Even if they make the playoffs and get into the second round big deal. They are not making it to the final round. Facts do not lie. Let the talking heads talk as they have to play it up and make a living.

  15. Mitch and Morgan can both be gone and would be a fantasy is JT would just retire out or do something to somehow ease his cap hit too.. Sign Domi and bert for a small hit and get a damn goalie and and some cheaper hard nosed, gritty D men

  16. What is the “soulless decision”?

Shanahan/Trev: “Hey marner we’re trading you!”

    Marner: “No”

  17. If they go into this season with Marner still on the roster, there needs to be a fan revolt to force a change. I just don't know if Leafs fans that still pay high ticket prices care enough to actually make a difference.

  18. I think as soon as everyone found out Shanahan wasn't going anywhere, people should have realized that none of the Big Four were likely going anywhere and the Leafs were going to run it all back one more time. The real kicker comes when they try to resign Marner and Tavares to run it back again the season after next.

  19. Im sure this is what "The real Nhl" quote was about. Not the media and fans and preassure. Thats how i read it anyways

  20. Gonna laugh when Marner doesn't waive his NTC and leaves after next season and screws the leafs who get squat for the asset

  21. I think the problem is he is paid to much. They won’t be able to shift him for the same value. And Marner can just say no. The leafs are likely stuck with him, I would also say “if you want to stay you are getting less”.

  22. Cry harder Steve. Getting annoying now. Suck it up and get used to the fact or stop doing LFRs. Put your money where your mouth is buddy.

  23. Completely agree with Steve. They clearly indicated big changes are coming. Coaching style coming in is a good bellwether with type of player signed/retained.

  24. He sells jerseys and tickets. He is not going anywhere. The closest us Leaf fans will witness Leafs hoisting a cup is former players on different teams.

Hay, maybe Cici, Hyman, and Campbell will win it this year.

F ING PATHETIC FRANCHISE my Leafs are.
