@Hurricanes de la Caroline

    FUCK EM!!!!

    LETS GO CANES !!!

  2. thedaidai

in no fucking universe and by no metric are we shittier than Vancouver or Montreal fans

  3. seftnir

Wait, we’re slightly friendlier than the Rags and less frendily than the Bruins? 1000% their turn coat fans from Cary dragging us down.

  4. 492rankine

I feel like some newer hockey fans bring their behavior from local college sports rivalries (which tends to be a bit ugly) to the hockey world.

“Over 3000 fans” sounds like a lot at first, but when you divide it by the number of teams in the league it comes out to just around 100 fans per fanbase, which is not a good sample size. Moreover, they don’t actually tell us how their “weighted scale” works, and the metrics they used aren’t trustworthy. Of course we’re booing more if we play the Rags, but I don’t think there’d be too much if it was the Wild instead.

All that to say that this is a bunch of nonsense.

Yeah I’m gonna go ahead and doubt this one lol. I don’t think we are anywhere near the warmest, but I would guess jets/jackets ranking. Look at oilers ranking, I have seen extremely aggressive comments from their fanbase so I’m surprised they’re ranked where they are.

  7. Shocked, *shocked* that people would associate any kind of toxicity with the Bunch of Jerks.

  8. blinker1eighty2

We have some shit ass Twitter fans that are so loud and make us look bad.

  9. drakethesnake94

Based on the last two playoffs alone I can tell you that New York Islanders fans being the 2nd warmest fanbase is bullshit

  10. Cinnamon_Shops

I guarantee you that this is because of how out of pocket our social media team occasionally gets. The “cry” shirts were the mail in the coffin.

  11. socialaxolotl

Looks like they asked everyone exclusively in Florida

  12. notyomamasusername

To be fair…. A huge chunk of our base wears Rags jerseys 2 games a year

  13. JonTheWizard

I think it’s a lot of other teams’ fanbases dogpiling us because…I don’t know. Recency bias?

  14. ttooley

This is one of the most idiotic sports surveys I have ever seen. Canes fans are loud as hell but aggressive doesn’t describe it for me. Now Boston and Montreal fans I’ve seen I would actually call Aggressive!!

  15. SpentGladiator77

Ah yes, famously middle-of-the-road, completely average and normal fanbase Toronto.

  16. My3rdReddit

Florida fans should be topping this list 100%

  17. Lazy-Iron1457

Fuck Adam Fox and his big dumb chin and fuck the rangers… but most of all fuck all of you turncoat, faux caniacs. You’re the worst.

  18. redslush

The capitol fans are some of the biggest a-holes I’ve encountered in the nhl

  19. Like17Badgers

    >to rank the NHL fan basses accordingly, we utilized a weighted scale to assess each fan bases’ sportsmanship behaviors: frequency of booing, cheering for injuries, engaging in poor behaviors, trash talking, lack of empathy of the opponent’s loss, or physical fights frequency.

the fact that the *Blackhawks* win it shows it’s massively skewed. aint no way the Isles, Caps, and GK are in the bottom 5. especially if fan fights are a major part of it, only fan fights in PNC this year were Rags fans and Bums fans attacking Carolina fans

  20. Ahh, I see they utilized the “Let me pull something out of my ass” method…..

  21. clinkyscales

Boston boos their own team. How are we colder than them lol

  22. DoubleualtG

Clearly there’s 1-2 heavily weighted items that are scored colder that 5 fan bases hot some critical limit on.

  23. Tflex92

I’ve been to a few games at TD Garden and many games at PNC……those Boston fans are savage.

  24. nickkkk777

Sharks fans are the most hospitable and agreeable folks in the nhl and you can’t change my mind

  25. Ahoymaboi

This shouldn’t be based off user surveys. It should be based off negative comments in social media. That would give a better picture of what everyone experiences IMO.

  26. macaroni_3000

The only thing this measures is which fans catch the most shit

  27. dustball155

I would say most of this is dictated by online interactions – not so much « at the stadium » interactions. And based on that context? I would agree with this list to be fair.

  28. allthe_starsaligned

as someone in Chicago who saw the canes here: i had chicago fans calling the canes eurotrash (after saying they wished teuvo was still on the hawks) and being just generally misogynistic – i’m not surprised

  29. MountaineerChemist10

Well 6 of the top 3 include the Rangers, Boston & NJ, & you know how more & more fans from the North are moving into NC b/c of lower house prices. Thus, I’m sure they hear trash talking from Canes fans 24/7 in person once we discover about they’re fan loyalty 🤣

If I came across wearing a Rangers shirt, I would definitely say into their face “better luck next year! 🤣”

  30. nickmango5

As a person who is regularly a road fan/neutral in PNC and travels to other arenas frequently here is one thing I’d say about Canes fans (I am a Panthers fan so usually don’t catch too much hate and understand Carolina is probably a building where I’d catch more shit than other buildings).

About 70% are fine and are genuinely nice people but there is a big portion of the fanbase that likes to pick fights with opposing fans and can just kinda be disgusting human beings. I’d also say a larger portion of that part of the fanbase lingers around the upper deck rather than lower bowl.

I’ve gone to road games in Chicago, Columbus, Tampa, Vancouver, Seattle, Vegas, DC, Nashville, Detroit and San Jose. The only issues I have ever had were in Nashville and PNC. Nashville was simply a yelling match but I have had stuff dumped on me in PNC when I was in the lower bowl with my mother who is a Canes fan. Idk how much the tailgating influences it but usually these bad fan interactions (every fan base included) usually stems from alcohol.

Will take it with a grain of salt because I am in Carolina’s barn the most compared to others but this stat really isn’t surprising to someone who is outside the Canes fanbase and regularly in the building.

  31. TouchToLose

I couldn’t disagree with this more. I am a Caps fan in Carolina, and I go to games at PNC regularly. I have been to many sporting events, and have never felt more welcome as I do at PNC.

  32. Ridiric

This list is shit… leafs are sub 1/2 haha
