He’s 40 next month. His totals have gone down the last 3 seasons, not by significant amounts but mid 40 points for 75+ games isn’t worth another season. Add in he’s been awful in the playoffs this year

Damn my favorite Shark and player. Enjoy your retirement King.

  3. Background_Hat964

Wish him the best in retirement. Wonder if he will pursue a career in front office or coaching?

Sad day… One of the greatest tippers ever..

  5. RevolutionaryJoke21

    I’m heartbroken 😫😭

  6. No_Chest2679

Honestly, it’s a crime that he not only didn’t win a cup, but only got one shot at it in the finals. With the number of teams now, it’ll happen to more and more guys, but still

Edit: my dumbass forgot about the Dallas run in the bubble. So he had two cracks at a ring. Credit to free_slice for reminding me 🫡

I don’t think I’ve watched hockey without him tbh

One of the last players from my childhood (albeit on the other side) in 2011. Great career I really wish he won it this year though

Pavs will always be a legend. I liken him to Dan Marino as the one guy who probably deserved to win it all more than anyone, but never got the chance. Enjoy your retirement and thank you for your impact on the game over your career.

God bless Joe Pavelski and his family. May the road rise up to meet his feet. Thank you Pavs for all the success, excitement, hard work, and leadership you have provided the Stars, and before us the Sharks. 💔🏒🏒🏒🏒🏒🦜🇺🇸🍺🌮🎸💪🏼❤️

Time to put the flags at half-mast ._.

  11. Captiv8

Damn. One of my favorites. Going to miss seeing him in front of the net.

Even though I’m an Oiler fan, I was pulling for Dallas, so Joe could have one more chance at getting his name on the Cup.

  13. WilmaTonguefit

This actually makes me sad. What a career. Wish it ended with a cup.

  14. JiveChicken00

Great player, classy guy, sorry he couldn’t win one before retiring.

  15. Jolly_Job_9852

Would have loved to see him raise a cup once in his career.

  16. sufferfest3163

Was so close to 500 goals too.

  17. VonSchlitzy

Heartbroken!! As a fellow Wisconsin native I really wanted to see his name on the cup. I’d love to see him try out broadcasting or coaching.

My favorite non-canuck player since I was a kid, sad to see him retire and not win a cup, its a shame that neither the canucks nor the sharks won the cup in the early to mid 2010s

  19. Sad_Aside_4283

Probably the greatest player to never hoist the cup. Truly a legend.

  20. larue555

Such an amazing player and person. Sorry the Stars couldn’t get him a cup but he had a great run with them. I am sure the locker room will greatly miss his leadership. Hope to see him still in hockey in a coaching or front office job.

  21. LRonKoresh

Hell of a career and player, this sucks

  22. ACivilDad

I’m a Dallas fan living in northern Nevada where everyone was a sharks fan prior to the knights coming along. Even when Dallas was in the pacific Pavs was one opponent I couldn’t dislike. I’ve always love his game so much. When he signed with Dallas I was over the moon and what a great investment bring him in has been. Such an absolute legend and of any player in the last 20 years I am genuinely bummed he has to hang them up. Bummed he didn’t get the cup but happy he gets to go be with his family and be a full time dad. I wish him the best in everything he does going forward and will always be a fan.

  23. CryptoMemesLOL

He can always become a tipping coach!

  24. Grayson_Graves

Damn, much respect to the guy. After beating us I really wanted to see him get one.
