  1. The type of player you hate to play against and the one you love to have on your team. Finally the last player that I remember personally playing against retires…

  2. Pavelski could definitely come back and play another season or two if he wanted to.. he’s still really good and still putting up 60 points at age 39 this year.

  3. Most playoff goals by an American and almost two decades of production and leadership. Get Captain America in the HOF!!

  4. That San Jose hasn’t made the playoffs since he left shows how valuable he was to them. Shame he retires without the cup.

  5. I'm not a fan of either team he played for, but 1000 points in the era he played is not easy. I remember when 1000 points, unless you did something to embarrass the NHL, made you a shoe-in. He was basically a 70 point player over a full season until he retired. He was the Mike Gartner and Brendan Shanahan of his time. Productive well into his 30s. He belongs in the Hall. Lots of guys are in the HOF who didn't even score 1000 points. The league shouldn't just be for guys who scored multiple 100 point season. They should be for players who represented the best of what the NHL game is about. Pavelski did that.

  6. Huge wing's fan, i remember the wings getting knocked out 2010, 2011 by the SJ sharks and this guy was a Red Wings killer on the ice! But I could not say one bad thing about him and tons of respect. I wish that they won a cup with him in 2016. Sad to see him retire, fantastic two-way player with tons of heart and a deflection king 👑. (Holmstrom was pretty good too 😸)

  7. Huge fan when he was with the Sharks. He was the heart and soul of the team. Sad that he never won a Cup, but going to Dallas gave him probably his best shot at it.

  8. Someone mentioned that Pavs could rest up the first half of next season and then come back fresh and ready for a playoff run. Justin Williams and maybe 1 or 2 other players have done that sort of recently.

  9. Joe is from my town. Actually have some family relation in common. I remember hanging with him and his brother at some weddings when we were kids back in the day. Always a good guy. Super nice

  10. The most impressive thing about Joe?
He missed just eight games in his last 13 seasons. Made the playoffs 11 of those 13 seasons. Never missed a playoff game.
11 seasons with 60+ points, 12 seasons with 25+ goals, 6 seasons of 40+ assists.
Like Ovechkin (at times, but Ovi is older), I'd say he's one of those rare players who managed to retain his capabilities into his late 30s.
Honestly, it's unreal how well he played with Dallas.
Gretzky's drop between the Oilers and the Rangers was over 80% (again, at times).
Pavelski's drop between early SJ and Dallas? Zero. He had times with Dallas where he actually seemed to be hitting his stride. At 36-39 🤯

  11. I'm going to call it… Pavs becomes a coach… hopefully for SJ! …with Marleau and Thornton…😈

Until then, I salute you, Capt!

  12. Really upsetting that hes retiring. I figured he would play for another 3 season, His scoring touch hasnt declined and he had almost as many goals as Ovie. I wish he wouldve stuck around to get 500 goals & a cup. Hes 24 away and has had 25+ in 5 of the 6 past seasons. Plus the stars are true contenders and I believe he couldve gotten a cup with them, cementing a HOF entrance with 500G 600A 1100gmes.

  13. If this is truly the end my meager jersey collection will expand to include his final stop. Few will ever touch what he meant to USA hockey.

  14. People forget just how good of a GM Doug Wilson was picking up guys like this, unfortunately Wilson giveth and he taketh away and thus Joe unfortunately had to go to Dallas

  15. As a Sharks fan I will always remember Joe Pavelski as a great captain and just a clutch player, those series against the Detroit Red Wings will always be some of my favorite Joe Pavelski clutch moments. Its truly the end of a era for both San Jose and Dallas. Good luck Captain America!

  16. I actually think he gets in the Hall of Fame and won’t wait long either. However, if he had won a Cup in his career he’d be a lock. Great career Mr Consistent
