1. Less than 8M (what Rinne got) is wild
2. What on God’s green earth does this mean for Askarov.
E: I guess Rinne signed for 7 mil. I dunno why I was thinking it was 8. Even then, getting Saros at near the same value is mighty impressive.
If they can get him for a 7.5 for 8 years that would be outstanding. I’ll buy another saros jersey the second it’s announced
JUICEEEEEEEEE!
Really happy to have the stud locked up for the rest of his career. The fact it’s under 8 AAV is really surprising too. Will be interesting to see what happens with Asky now tho
7.5 is amazing. Now give Asky one more year to cook and give me the best tandem in the league in 25-26.
Only way I can try and rationalize extending Saros is that Askarov is either not coming along as planned and will be moved very soon, or going to try to get a Saros/Askarov duo for a handful of seasons and then making the choice of who to keep if Saros doesn’t have a no trade clause.
Daaaang. I love Saros but was really getting excited for Askarov. I wonder if they re-sign Lanky or someone like that or if Askarov gets brought up as the backup in the next year or two
Or if by the end of tomorrow night Askarov is on another team 🙁
Call me crazy but we keep Asky. He’s not ready for the show. Saros’ AAV is not that bad. Traceable. Keep Asky for the next 4 seasons see what he’s got in the show. Trade one of the two depending on performance. Sounds like a win win.
7m…. Barry you beautiful bald bastard you’ve done it again. Now bring me Stammer. Deliver him to me
7.5 for 8. Steal! 🧃🧃🧃
Love it. Just about market value.
Let Juicy cook under Mitch Korn
*Clearly, Saros wants a statue
🤞
As my father in law says, quoting Blazing Saddles, Enough is as good as a feast.
I saw it is 8 for 7.74 AAV
Great deal!
This is just speculation / my opinion BUT it kinda makes me wonder if they lost confidence in Askarov somewhere along the way between this time last year and now.
You’d think if he was going to be IT they would leave the door open somehow but 8 years pretty much slams the door on the idea of him ever playing in Nashville long term, right? I guess we’ll have to see what all the contract entails in terms of movement clauses and such.
7.74 AAV is the word. I love these # contracts the Preds do!
Saros signed until he’s 38. Why not lol
I don’t think this means anything for Askarov. There’s no need to move him any time soon. Still has one more year on an ELC and then he’s under team control with a RFA.
Saros had a 3 year ELC, then signed a 3 year bridge deal before signing his longer term deal. Askarov would probably do the same and spend a few years as a back up before we’d be forced into making a decision.
Finally ending all the mock trades where we send him off. Glad we can keep him as our 2nd generational tendy
We have quite the future in net coming up here. I wonder if we try and trade Askarov at the draft again tomorrow to move up
This could be really great or really bad…
This is an insane bargain and I hope Preds fans recognize that instead of crying about not trading him away for a first round pick and a prospect and handing the reins to a 21 year old with almost no NHL experience.
Guys, Askarov is still so young. Rinne didn’t take over the starting job until he was what, 25, 26?
Askarov is 22. We can still trade Juuse later when Askarov is truly ready to start.

Askarov will be traded if/when the price is right
I’ve been seeing $7.74M AAV
I’m at least glad it won’t break the bank, sad to see Asky not get a more consistent spot. Mostly sad no place for Lank.
I’ve been beating the « keep Saros » drum for a while now. Glad to see this.
I’m jacked to the tits!
Ekholm took less at his long term contract, helped out the team big.
