  1. You got the timeline a bit wrong – the first trade of the teardown was Brent Burns to Carolina in July 2022, shortly after Mike Grier took over. Meier was traded in February of 2023, and then Karlsson in August of 2023.

Also, the Burns trade not only created cap space but helped set up the Karlsson trade by clearing the way for Karlsson to be the main star on the blue line in 2022-23. Karlsson's contract was regarded as an absolutely unmovable albatross at the time, but his 100+ point season in 2022-23, which would likely not have happened were he still sharing the right side of the blue line with Burns, changed that.

  2. I am super excited for the sharks future, goaltending is definitely something that will get addressed soon enough

  3. I get to watch musty often. Hes very good and he has a chippy side but has a temper..takes a lot of dumb penalties but it will change with age

  4. Saying the rebuild started in 19-20 is completely inaccurate. The collapse started then, but Doug Wilson was still, unsuccessfully of course, trying to cobble together a contender around the existing core. As late as 2022, this team was signing aging players to long-term NMC deals. It was not until Mike Grier was hired that the actual tear down phase of the rebuild started.

  5. Blackwood is being underrated imo. On the better side of 30, he stood on his head some nights for an AHL roster. Now that he has a somewhat competitive defense in front of him, he could put up numbers for San Jose in the next few years. His save percentage was .899 this year if i remember correctly. Martin Jones in 2019 put up an .896 SV% on a team that went to the WCF. Goaltending is not a major issue for SJ going forward. Just wanted to put that out there.

  6. Am I crazy to think that will smith will be a better player than Macklin as an overall player and the way he fits into the sharks system?

  7. When it comes to California hockey I believe The Sharks and the Ducks are the ones that are doing this rebuild correctly. The Kings. however, are closing their eyes with their fingers in their ears lying to themselves that they don't need to rebuild.

  8. I think you hit the nail on the head. Many Sharks fans have been calling for a rebuild since 2020 but the get the last year and a half the future direction has really become clear. Exciting times are ahead in the bay 👀 🩈

  9. My wife and I have been ticket holders since 2015. We go to almost every single game in the season plus a couple travel games a year. We've seen the highs and lows of Sharks hockey. We haven't been this excited for a season in a few years. Can't wait!

  10. SJ with Vegas’ #1 pick gives us yet another reason to actively root against the Knights.

I see them potentially missing the playoffs, they have massive cap issues and are letting some of their best players walk.

  11. Great video! As someone who is from Brazil, I have zerro NHL coverage here, so its nice to see someone putting videos like this one out!

  12. I'm sorry but you need a better microphone and some energy in your voice. This video put me to sleep.

  13. Hearing the way my beloved team was dismantled, and where my beloved went, is heartbreaking 😱
