For how niche hockey is, that’s very good. Shocked he was above 30 tbh

  2. Jeff_Banks_Monkey

There are so many weird and bad picks on this list. It’s hardly worth even paying attention to

  3. bielek3139

Very strange there was no mention of his golden goal in the 2010 Olympics.

LeBron at 4 is insane. He’s above Tom Brady (the undisputed NFL GOAT), Simone Biles (undisputed gymnastic GOAT), Tiger Woods (closest thing to a modern golfing GOAT), and Katie Ledecky (undisputed female distance swimming GOAT). It’s such an ESPN move to do that.

  5. CynicWalnut

It’s weird having multiple people from the same sport before the best in other sports appear. Little bit of bias there.

I was about to post this and rant about it. Absolutely disgusting that there’s 4 tennis players in the top 25, and Crosby isn’t even top 10. ESPN is so clueless that they listed his first accomplishment as ‘NHL 100 Greatest’. KEVIN GARNETT was number 23 right behind Crosby. Wtf is wrong with ESPN man.. This list is such shit

  7. SteakkNBacon

They got number one right and everything after is comical

  8. PhantomJB93

Crosby is way closer to Brady/LeBron territory than Kobe or Steph Curry should be

  9. SmileMask2

That’s actually pretty disrespectful. He should be probably 5 higher or maybe even higher. Definitely above Stephen Curry and Mahomes.

    This list is awful.

Looks more like an ad for the WNBA.

Where’s Larry Fitzgerald or did I miss him?

Too many tennis players at the top – tennis has very little variance. When you’re better you typically win.

Golf has way more variance and Tiger Woods isn’t 2 or 3 if not 1?

Ovi needs to be higher as well.

Total prejudice and skewing to Football and Basketball.

Basketball is an insanely overrated sport.

  12. rusty022

Steve Nash listed above Jon Jones. Like … what is this list?

  13. jumpyg1258

I didn’t even need to look beyond the first couple of picks to see that this was typical ESPN biased garbage and I shouldn’t even bother to look at the rest of it.

  14. This list stinks. Crosby should be way higher

  15. SF_Anonymous

3 hockey players (Crosby, Ovi, McDavid), but roughly a dozen WNBA players. Im sure a few of them deserve to be on the list, but that imbalance is crazy

I realize that it’s not a league sport, but I’m disappointed to not see Alex Honnold on here. His free solo of El Cap stands alone as one of the most remarkable athletic feats in modern history. He is unparalleled.

  17. swifferbrain

Shaun White at 72 might be the worst part of the entire list and that really says something.

  18. SVTour07

Are we just left to assume that Malkin fell in at 101?

  19. Particular_Fuel6952

This list is tailored made to something to release in July, when the news cycle is slow. Bad rankings, drive comments and engagement. It’s soft rage bait, I refuse to engage in it.

  20. EIIander

Serena Williams at number 2? She is literally better at tennis than I am at anything…. But number 2?!

  21. JimmyPineapple_

ESPN just started caring about hockey again, give them a break. /s

  22. funkybeatz911

I’d personally put Crosby at #5 ahead of Brady on this list. Im sure few would agree. But he’s absolutely higher than #22.

ESPN failed to mention the Olympic gold medals

  23. tobybells

I’m a flyers fan only here because this post was recommended to me on my home feed…that said, given his longevity, awards, championships, and continued production at his age – Sid is easily a top 10 athlete imo. He’s basically Lebron of hockey minus the team jumping

  24. Shiny_Mew76

Honestly, biases aside, Crosby talent wise should be Top 5, or at least Top 10.

Also, how is the Chief’s Quarterback higher than one of the greatest hockey players of all time? He won three championships, but hasn’t even played half a career yet. Shouldn’t McDavid be that higher in that case considering how dominant he is?
