The most disliked team is definitely the Toronto Maple Leafs. Their fans and media are insufferable.
The jets and Utah team both should be universally hated for poaching the thrashers and coyotes respectively.

I suspect, if done today, Edmonton would be in Blackhawks territory because of their GM hire. I’m not sure if this was done before or after Washington announced its intentions re:CapFriendly, but that would have an impact.

Utah hasn't played a game, and they are 8th. Must be using the Yotes as a base. Hopefully, it holds, though. I'm loving Utah already.
I like both Toronto and Vegas, as well as Carolina and Tampa. I don't care for those teams in the top 11. Oh well.

Chicago ranking obviously stems from their recent success and the abuse scandal only to be followed by winning the Bedard sweepstakes
Western teams are higher because East teams have more fans, so they(the fans) voted against their Conference rival.

There seems to be a lot of hate on the Blackhawks because they won 3 🏆 Stanley Cups during the 2010's
There's hate on the Golden Knights because they won the Stanley Cup in only their 6 th season it's called jealousy
Brodie, Nate MacKinnon is the reigning MVP and won in a year where McDavid, Matthews, Kucherov and others were lights out. He’s as prominent as it gets. I think people hate Vegas because of the Mark Stone LTIR back to back years.
If this sample population has a Colorado bias, that probably explains Vegas being last.
I’m also disappointed my Flyers aren’t more hated. We love that shit in Philly.

Though I think this is less of a measure of hate and more of a measure of "do not like." There's a correlation, but there's a difference.

It's messy data, no clear trends, but as someone who feels I agree with most of these, I have a theory: fun factor mostly wins. The teams at the top have been or currently are fun. The teams at the bottom feel more soulless or entitled. I think there's also a factor of proportional representation in media. The bottom teams are overrepresented and the top teams may be a touch underrepresented.

Vegas probably combination of early success, questionable use of LTIR (cap circumvention anyone?), churning through players like Fleury with zero tact. As for Chicago the allegations of ignoring sexual assault have tainted their cup wins in the eyes of many.
