    Gotta love it when your GM locks up pending RFAs early so you dont have any stress about your team missing key players at the start of the season

    Seider has so much leverage over Steve Yzerman rn that dcore without him is worst in the league and Yzerman has done no favours by giving Seider no help on the blue line the past 2 seasons. Just makes the negotiations so complicated as both sides can argue and have very strong cases for both ends of the spectrum. Seider's camp attributing his lack of development due to no help and very difficult deployment and Yzerman can just look at his numbers and not want to pay him those high $$$ based on his face stats. Those must be some tough negotiations from both sides and come to a $$$ value and term that both sides are happy with. Yzerman has to get it done before the start of training camp with Seider that dcore needs him

    I think Seattle can do some things to clear up some cap space to sign Beniers. The obvious move is to trade Gourde. If you assume Wright will be up full time that likely means Gourde is the 4C, and his cap hit is way too high for a 4C. Seattle probably retains some salary, but Gourde could help some other teams out as a solid 3C on an expiring contract and would probably be cheap to acquire. Maybe a 5th rounder without retention and maybe a 3rd with some retention.

    Regarding Berniers, there is a similar discrepancy between CapWages and Puckpedia. Puckpedia has SEA with 6.37M in cap space, which for a shorter term deal should be enough to get Beniers.

    Calgary has the most cap space in the league and practically no centres. The Flames really should consider offer sheeting Matty Beniers. Help speed the rebuilding process. That’d be a lot of fun to see.

    The “discrepancies” between both websites is that puckpedia will essentially send contracts down to the AHL off the main roster
