Thank you Calgary fans….from a CBJ fan.
As a flames fan this is devastating
Sò shocking to have a family lose 2 brothers, sons, fathers….RIP
Mourning here in the Desert. Loved the way he played and LOVED who he was off the ice. An inspiration for a generation.
Horrible.
He rejected Calgary.

Flames fans booed him when he went their as a blue jacket. I found that disgusting.

R.I.P.
I just received my copy of The Hockey News magazine issue for the 24-25 season preview. The cover was filled with, I believe, a small image of one player from each NHL team surrounding each other in a collage-like manner, and of course, Columbus’ player image was #13 Johnny Hockey!
To see his image there, on a cover previewing the season & all the teams’ hopes & dreams for what is to come, it’s utterly heartbreaking! I haven’t read the analysis for the team yet, can’t bring myself to do. I know I’ll shed a tear in doing so, realizing that no matter all the hopes these guys had going into the season, their entire year was shattered before it could begin.
And I don’t even mean as a win or loss fashion, as a money making organization. I’m talking about their personal experience with Johnny Hockey, the feeling of losing a brother that close to the year, a guy you just spent an entire year with, bleeding & sweating together. Just like Johnny’s family lost two good men—the hockey world of Columbus & Calgary, Boston College, New Jersey, & any who knew those men throughout their lives & careers—they lost two great men as well.
Of course, no group of people could possibly feel this loss any more than that of his family. On the eve of his sister’s wedding, preparing to be groomsmen, riding bikes with your sibling & then out of nowhere getting your life snuffed out in blink of an eye. I can’t even begin to understand the loss.
I’m so sorry.
I wish the guy who did it was at least hurt in some way. He didn’t even seem mentally shook, as he was pretty coherent about it all during his initial court visit, griping about not having his cell phone to call a lawyer, being annoyed he has to stay in there until at least Thursday before a bond can be set (holiday weekend means long weekend for him).
He shouldn’t even be let out on bond! And to hear the court say he is only facing a maximum of 10 years in prison for freaking killing too innocent lives! For ruining a family beyond repair!! And he wants to cry about his cell phone access?! Someone please end that man right now. He deserves his entire life behind bars. How is this anything but murder? If you drive drunk, you’re risking killing someone and yourself. This guy did it. He became the most prolific of drunk drivers! People won’t ever forget his name now. Congrats to him. Hope he’s proud! Well, actually…I still don’t even know his name & I just watched his court hearing. Maybe we will forget his name after all. I did.
To hell with him. And if any of you want to get behind a wheel drunk…think about this before you do.
*sorry I’m so angry…my uncle died from a drunk driving accident many years ago in Indiana. He didn’t even have a chance to live his life. Had potential to be a tennis pro (my dad, his brother, would later on become a tennis pro to connect with his deceased brother in a way. My dad played for Ball State University [Indiana] in college…same college my uncle Mark planned to attend).
Please flames if you have any sense retire his number
❤❤

Just think you go through all those early morning wake ups, all those battles, workouts, injuries etc etc etc for a stupid no life drunk driver to just take everything you have ever worked for in a matter of seconds. Life is not fair man. 😢
