Éric Fichaud a été repêché au 16e rang par les Maple Leafs de Toronto en 1994. Il n’a joué que 9 matchs pour Nashville, enregistrant 6 défaites avec un pourcentage d’arrêts de ,895 et une moyenne de buts alloués de 3,22.
Ján Lašák a été repêché 65e au total par les Predators de Nashville en 1999. Il a joué 6 matchs, enregistrant 4 défaites avec un pourcentage d’arrêts de ,874 et une moyenne de buts alloués de 4,04.
Pekka Rinne… Que puis-je dire de plus sur le joueur le plus aimé de l’histoire des Predators qui n’a pas déjà été dit ? 4 fois All-Star, vainqueur du Vézina et d’un trophée King Clancy Memorial. Une star, un leader et un guerrier. Après avoir été repêché 258e au classement général Entré en 2004 par les Predators de Nashville, il a offert à la ville 15 années de pure classe. Tout au long de son mandat avec les Predators, il a joué 683 matchs, en étant titulaire 666, et a accumulé 369 victoires avec un pourcentage d’arrêts de ,917 et une moyenne de buts alloués de 2,43. Il a également ajouté 60 blanchissages au cours de sa carrière, en en totalisant 8 lors de sa saison à Vézina avec un pourcentage d’arrêts de ,927 et une moyenne de buts alloués de 2,31 en 59 matchs, qui étaient tous des matchs dans lesquels il a également été titulaire. Depuis juin 2023, il est le recruteur européen et l’entraîneur du développement des gardiens des Predators. I will tell this Pekka story until the day I die.
I am too damn old to give a shit about my birthday, but it is the most important day of the year for me. I want allllll the attention that one single day; the other 364 I am happy being in the background and helping others shine. But I AM THE STAR OF THE DAY on my birthday. Everybody around me knows and (mostly) accepts this lol.
I think it was 2019. Bestie #1 had recently moved out of state. Bestie #2 had to work. I had no plans for the first time in years. Boss (also a good friend) was tired of me whining and said we could take a long lunch and go to Centennial for practice that day. We stopped at the dollar store and got a posterboard and markers and made a sign that said « Can I get a happy birthday from #35? »
Get to Centennial. Josi saw the sign and pointed me out to Peks, who waved. Made my day. Then after practice, I was like maybe he would sign this silly sign. But when he finally came off the ice, he was signing autographs, then noticed me and waved. Then he went over to the equipment guy and grabbed a stick that he had written happy birthday on. I cried. I will cherish that damn thing for the rest of my life.
Also, his last game. God, how perfect was that night?
