Minnesota's future looks bright:
They currently have Öhgren, Heidt, Yurov, Stramel and Ritchie in their forward prospect pool. Assuming they can retain guys like Kaprizov, Boldy, Eriksson-Ek and Rossi, there should be plenty of options going forward.
In addition to Faber, and recently acquired Jiricek, they have Buium, Lambos, O'Rourke and two dark horses in Kiviharju and Peart, more than enough to find at least 3/4 of a solid top 4.
Their veteran d-men are getting up there in age though. If anything they could probably benefit from adding one, maybe two, younger replacements for Brodin and Spurgeon that can help support the young d-core long-term.
Everything is starting to line up for MN. Tons of young talent that is finally ready to start showing out, a bunch of young players waiting in the wings, most of their foundation players are signed long-term, and the team will FINALLY be out from under the Parise/Suter buyouts.
Very exciting time to be a Wild fan.
I'm also wondering what everyone's opinion is on the Jiricek trade?
The Wild are awesome but your governor is a lunatic
Its Minnesota it doesn't matter how good we are, we are just gonna get eliminated in the first round every year if we even make the playoffs
Another great video , great work Shannon
I liked your comment about Talking Heads the band (“ Burning down the house “)😊
Marner was spotted last summer at The Minnesota State Fair.
Good riddance to Johansson!
It’s great to see Minnesota slowly emerging into a team that may make the playoffs once again. At the begining of the year my expectations for them were not to high after last season but they have shown up this year. However as of late in the past couple games, if the Wild can get their penalty kill together and get more consistency on their power play, they can be a dangerous team. Wild also however need to figure out how to beat Dallas though. They have been close this year on their power play first meeting they had but if they truly want to have a chance getting past Dallas, they got to learn how to shut down Dallas playmakers and provide great defending and learn how to control the games against Dallas. Same applies for the jets and Avs as well. If we can learn to get passed those teams, playoffs this year in my opinion are in reach for the Wild.
I think you might be on to something with the Nikolaj Ehlers signing. That would give Kaprizov his new younger Robin to his Batman. Because like you said the Kaprizov contract won't go into effect until after next year. Which would mean the Wild probably lose Zucarello and more than likely Bogosian to fill in the difference of the 9 million to whatever million Kaprizov is going to get.
Gabe Valardi might be a sneaky signing this summer as well. Winnipeg has 36 million to play with but they also have to sign half their roster.
Minnesota is a heavily taxed state you are correct!
This years team has a chemistry that Minnesota hasn't seen out of a pro hockey team in a long time. It's a different culture this year, and they're firing on all cylinders, even with the injury bug for the 2nd straight year. We're getting so much better and I love to watch it happen. It's good to be a Wild fan.
The future for the Wild is all going to depend on the prospects we've not yet seen (or very little of). Ohgren, Buium, Yurov, Heidt……just a few of the top names. If they can hit on just a couple of these, plus add a top 6 forward in free agancy, they could be true cup contenders for several years. Of course they'll need to resign Kaprizov, and Wallstedt will need to play up to his hype for this plan to fall into place. I'm hopeful!
Brodin is still the best shutdown defender in the NHL. last year at a GM poll they asked "who would you put 1 on 1 against Mcdavid on a breakaway?" answer was Brodin. He's held McDavid to almost no points against the wild for years.
As long as we don't trade Marco Rossi, I agree
Wild needs top center and they are set
I'm sorry , but that jersey is hideous.
If you really want to know Wild info, go to "Wild on 7th podcast"
if we get just one ill be happy
The Wild's biggest problem is they have never been bad.
Wait a minute, a Wild fan who would be happy to see VANCOUVER win a cup??
Wild fan for forever here. First time seeing this channel. Great job. At first I thought you might be from MN. Then I heard that accent. Nooope. Anyway, best take on this team from a non-local I’ve ever heard. So spot on. Love it. Billy G deserves tons of credit but so does Judd Bracket. Probably best scout we’ve ever had.
