  1. Even as a Canucks fan I’m lowkey rooting for them. Johnny Gaudreaus passing caused so much grief itd be a nice moment for them to make it back to the playoffs. I do think their forwards need to step up tho. They got carried by stellar goaltending early on. 25 games in with a leading scorer with 15 points is just not enough help for the goalies

  2. the flames staff are clearly mostly to blame. If you get a player like huberdeau, and his production suddenly drops off when he signs on your team, its because your coaching staff, absolutely suck, and dont know how to utilize their players. they literally just draw up the perfect plays on paper and expect players to get it, and if it doesnt work, its cause the players suck. pfft. coaches in calgary are to blame for whats been happening.

  3. If I was the GM in Calgary. I'd be standing pat, waiting for the results of the entire season, and playoffs, and go from there. Given what happened to Nashville, so far, I'd be weary of trying to contend, if the team is going to need a complete overhaul in a season or two.

  4. Something of note in regard to Huberdeau and his sudden drop off is how his role has shifted completely upon arriving in Calgary.

Florida was allowing Huberdeau to guide plays and weren’t afraid to utilize his play making in the transition zone that would eventually convert into chances. Calgary does not seem to allow their wingers the same level of flexibility and it’s resulted in many situations where Huberdeau is forced to stand still; effectively twiddling his thumbs at the blue line waiting for his teammates to drive the rush into the offensive zone. Not to say he’s not capable of being a goal scorer, but he’s absolutely the type of player that should be leading offensive rushes, not acting in as an f3 complimentary piece.

I’m not one to typically blame coaching staff, but I do believe a potential change up could have a positive influence on some of their star players like Huberdeau; allowing them more leeway in generating chances off the offensive rush make a massive difference.

  5. The Flames are 28th in goals for per game. No 4+ goal games since game 3 of the season. None of the players are on pace for 50+ points. I wouldn't say their offense has been "surprisingly good". 28th is around what was expected. Rather, the defense and goaltending are better than expected.

  6. Huberdeau doesn’t have the players around him, like on Florida! Yes Florida’s run and gun style game. Since the Flames don’t use that style. Has inhibited his game play. I think a little retooling wouldn’t hurt. Go Flames Go!!!

  7. I appreciate the flames love as a fan but nearly nothing you said in this video is true lol. Our offense ranks 28th in goals for per game and is by no means a surprise, in fact it has been a complete disappointment. Huberdeau and Kadri have not improved since last year and are in fact having their worst start to a year in a flames jersey. Kadri is on pace for 49 after having 75 and huberdeau is on pace for 45 after having 55. The real reason our team is winning is due to our ability to score in the 3rd period. Nearly half of our total goals are scored there so we win a lot of 1 goal games while wolf and vladar hold the fort. Our success is NOT because of huberdeau or kadri, in fact its despite of this since kadri especially has been abysmal this year.

  8. Sell off Kadri and Vladar by the trade deadline. Even if we beat the odds and make the playoffs, we need to be realistic here: we are NOT winning the cup. We are realistically good enough to get gentlemen swept in the first round. Being buyers in the market so that it takes away from our future and makes the sting of yet another embarrassing first round exit hurt all the more, is not the way forward. Zary, Coronato, Wolf, Cooley, Peltier, Klapka, Kerins, and all our upcoming prospects and future acquisitions ARE the future of this organization. We should build around them and towards what they will have to offer us. Keep Ras, Weegs, Backs, and Huby as veterans to help guide the young bucks into the big league. If Huby picks up production in the future and we can make a smart trade with him, then I’d say offload him as well, but that’s it, no more. We have to absolutely draw the line at Ras, Weegs, and Backs. They cannot go anywhere, not until they retire.

  9. Offence has been dismal, led by the regression of Huberdeau and Kadri. Calgary is not a playoff team. And only Wolf will keep the team from the bottom of the league.

  10. I liked the video for the most part but had to stop watching it because his "Valley girl" way of talking is annoying. Talk like a normal person for the love of god! That way of talking doesn't help your content at all!

  11. They have got several young prospects in the lineup (Zary, Wolf, Pospisil, Coronado, etc.) Once they start to break out, they will become the stars of the Flames and the picks/players they got from trading their old core (Lindholm, Tkachuk, Markstrom, etc) will end up helping fill out their lineup.
If they wait and are patient their team can succeed.

  12. They are def coming back down to earth. They have been doing great by buy in from everyone and Hustle but eventually the lack of skill would show. IMO anyone over 30 is movable with the exception of Weegar and Backs(unless He wants too) I can not see them moving many maybe Kadri and Coleman. The GOOD news? The kids been playing great looks like we have our goalie of the future but its all about the next 4 yrs.Ride it out and stand pat. I agree with Your points and look forwar to future content !

  13. Horrible road trip as well our special teams have def regressed lets hope this home stand gets em back playing for each other…Will be an emotional one tonight with CBJ in town and the JH13 tribute.

  14. Allowing Treeliving too try and sign and trade players when he wasn’t going to resign as GM was a massive error. The Flames need to unload all those Treeliving contracts and collapse the team. Hope for lottery draft picks for the next 4 years until the new building is completed.

  15. ive been to five flames home games this season, they won 4 and lost 1 to Edmonton. The team is exciting but i think they need more help scoring goals and more star talent. With all the cap space the flames have they might be able to add this trade deadline or whatever. But maybe they will start to lose as season usually gets harder as it goes on so will see in another 25gp where they are.

  16. It's the worst Flames team ever. Evidence? Not one player will break 50 points this year. That's the worst ppg in Flames history. Most points per season:

    131, 80, 104, 80, 99, 72, 87, 106, 110, 95, 104, 90, 100, 93, 58(1994-1995 shortened season), 96, 67, 78, 69, 75, 71, 96, 67, 73, 67, 94, 98, 89, 69, 86, 67, 32(2012-2013 shortened season 55 expected over 82 games), 54, 76, 78, 61, 84, 99, 61, 49(2020-2021 shortened season 71 expected over 82 games), 115, 73, 75.

Lee Stempniak outperformed this entire Flames roster in 2012-2013. If Conroy doesn't start selling immediately he's… not smart. They are 13th place now but the loseritis has set in and they're playing to lose. If they finish above 29th place I'll be shocked, they are about to go on an epic losing streak they've already given up completely.

  17. If we’re gonna suck, then we’re gonna suck. We neeed some high picks and maybe young centers. I believe that Connie will do the right thing.

  18. Last time we truly went into rebuild mode was the 2012-2013 season. That was the year we traded Iggy and picked up Monahan. I think, as fan base, we all bought into the idea of sucking for a few years. Then the worst thing happened: Unexpected and unprecedented success in 2014-2015. From that point onward the mindset of the organization changed. We stopped rebuilding and started giving up picks for aging stars. The cruelest irony is that by trying to "win now" we sacrificed our ability to win it all. The flames need to learn their lesson and take this season as a gift but still be in rebuild mode. And remember defenseman and goalies peak later in life. This means that Wolf is going to get better and so will our young defensive group. We have time before the flames' the window opens so we should use it.

  19. Umm have you watched our defence? They aren’t good. They are actually really bad. If it weren’t for the 3rd and 4th line scoring, and wolf, we would not be where we are.

  20. The Flames have tried to compete every single year since I started watching them in 1997. The result has been a lot of ninth place finishes and first round exits. Rebuild properly and try again in 4-5 years.

  21. If i was conroy the early success dosnt change how I go forward. I still trade away players to stack draft picks and develop young guys. I'm definitely not a buyer at the trade deadline

  22. The Flames like last season. We were in a playoff bubble and decided to sell anyways. This season, we are in a playoff position, but I still feel that Flames will sell certain players for assets. That may push us out of the playoff race. The push to move Kadri, Rooney, Barrie, Hanley, Miromanov, and Kuzmenko. Will help ascertain younger players and all rounds of draft picks. Calgary will reduce some veteran players, but still keep strong core of them from 6 down to 4-5. Hope to see what Conroy manages to get for these players

  23. It's nice to see the flames come out hot, but people seem to forget they're just starting a rebuild. The good thing is that Conroy won't forget.
