Your trade logic may be flawed, the rangers didn’t take cap back this was a cap dump potentially for a move in the future to bring someone in. The wings would have had to move Holl or whoever to a third team, which could absolutely be on the players no trade list. Look who has cap space to ear a contract, especially those with term. This would have cost the wings both ways, clear cap, and take on trouba. Glad it didn’t happen.

He didn't get traded to Detroit because he wouldn't waive to go to that awful team. Wings could easily make the cap space available by putting a few guy on waivers like Husso, Copp, Holl and Compher who are way overpaid and can be replaced by players in Grand Rapids

He’s blowing smoke. Who wants to go to Anaheim? It seems he put his needs ahead of the teams. The league has a lot of those guys all of the sudden. Guys who don’t give 100% for a variety of shallow reasons. He wanted to go to Detroit and I’m sure Detroit couldn’t make it work cap wise. They’ve signed some questionable artifacts ie Kane and they’re locked in and it’s clearly not working for them. Of course Anaheim could still move Trouba to Detroit but that remains to be seen. Whether Trouba would have been waived or not is really irrelevant. Someone would have claimed him if he was. He’s a talent still yes and expensive one but still someone would have claimed him.
you're mentioning a bunch of players with No Trade Clauses on Detroit, not "No Move Clauses". Any of those Detroit players could be sent to minors – Grand Rapids, if their play doesn't improve.

Dodged a bullet tbh No sense on wanting Trouba for any extended period of time if he doesn't wanna be in a certain organization. Hes not worth it even without his signing bonuses.
Ranger fan here. The Rangers most certainly did honor the NMC, which became a modified 15 team NTC this season. Obviously I have no idea if Detroit was on that list and if they were, that's fine, he's well within his rights to block it, which the NY media strongly implied that he did back in July as the other comment said. Trouba has come across as being a bit butt hurt throughout all of this trying to make a business decision, which the Rangers are well within their rights to do, into some sort of personal vendetta. My advice to Wings fans today is to get down on your knees and thank the stars, the universe or whichever God you may pray to because in my opinion you just dodged a major bullet.
The Red Wings are a hot mess and it starts with Yzerman and his lack of any plan or guts to make a move with his head coach. His signings of washed up vets has been horrible. Hands out a long term contract to the likes of Copp and others. The team lacks chemistry and heart. Most players are floating for a check. Rebuilds should progress at some point.
Thus far Yzermans Yzerplan is a big fail. Fans deserve better! But hey you can bet this group of heartless floaters will be golfing in Traverse city next camp and enjoying the country club atmosphere they don't deserve.
