Who do YOU want the Jets to trade for?
100% the same. For 2 years now I've been thinking Chevy should do EVERYTHING possible to get Andersson from CGY. Offer pretty much anyone, players, prospects, picks, etc to get him.
I never even thought of Bowen Byram, but a Canadian born 6'1" 200ish lb LHD with speed and finesse would be GREAT for WPG. That would DEFINITELY spell the end of Stanley once and for all. Byram has 15 points in 27 games and is +5 on BUF! Trade for him and sign him for a LONG TIME. I've always liked this kid. Ideally you want a partner for JoMo, but having JoMo, Samberg and Byram as your LHD means you are DONE on that side. Leaving you with DeMelo, Pionk and Miller on the Right. Would still prefer Anderrsson from CGY to help offset the load JoMo faces every day, but Byram would be ideal. ESPECIALLY if you can get him for pick, prospect or not so key active player. Andersson AND Byram would make the Jets serious contenders.
The 2nd Line should be the Jets top priority. They've been invisible for over a month- and inconsistent even when Ehlers was in the line-up. Perfetti hasn't produced in a while and gets bumped off the puck so easily that I think he should be used as part of a trade package. Namestikov is decent but he's not who you build a line around. I'm not sure who is the cornerstone of that line given that Ehlers is headed to UFA. I think you need to focus on a player that defines the 2nd line first before anything else. One option could be to promote Neidereitter to the [RW] 2nd line, trade for a legit playmaking 2C and move Ehlers to the LW to be the outside threat. That would balance out that line and hopefully turn it into a productive unit that provides consistent supplemental scoring.
I like weeger..n maybe another option provorov
Just asking , how many goals against with Sheifele on the ice ? Whenever the other team scores it’s a habit I look for # 55 and there it is 😢
Colby barlow and chaz lucius should be the first two piece we offer in packages. Don’t need either of them. Barlow always sucked
A defenceman for now. But when Samberg comes back we should be OK. It's the 2nd Line C that needs the upgrade
The top line needs to be broken up. They blow too hot and cold and against better teams, they get dominated 5-on-5. It's been the case the last few years. The Jets need a physical forward on both the the first and second lines.
Jets need Stanley off the ice. THe centre spot is a second priority.
Sammy is probably one of the best defensive defensemen in the game right now, his ability to control space and break up plays is unreal. once hes back the only real issue is needing another points defenseman but even then Miller is looking pretty good, Pionk is ever reliable, JMo is nuts, DeMelo is up there too. i think the jets need to look for a better 2nd line forward, likely a center. but then again if they give any sort of time for growth they have an absolutely stacked up and coming few that i think can definitely do the job they just need playtime and shit.
The Jets had an unbelievable start. Nobody thought this would continue. 5-8 last 13 games. More like the Jets we are accustomed to. Lets see what the play-offs bring. Look at the playoff winning % or series wins since they returned to Winnipeg. Way down the list.
The Calgary trade only works if they start to regress. Right now they are 1 game away from 3rd place. So I don't think Andersson is going anywhere unless the Jets give them something BIG
THE JETS NEED TO TRY VILARDI AT 2ND LINE CENTER. They need to see if he could be a fit there before trading any assets to acquire a 2nd line C. Obviously they'd have to wait until Ehlers is back, But Vilardi is a natural center & played C in LA several times. The reason he ended up on the wings was because they had to fit him back into the lineup after returning from constant injuries. Gabe isn't a one trick pony, but most of his goals happen in close in front of the net. Playing him at C would put him where he usually ends up anyway, in the middle. And 55's wrist/hand issues also showed that he's a solid faceoff man. Namestnikov is a decent, versatile player, but sorry, the Jets aren't going to win big with him as our 2nd line C. Vilardi would fit well between 27 & 91 & bolster our 2nd line offence big time. I believe Niederreiter would be the best fit at 1st line RW. His skill is very underrated & he battles hard in all the hard areas, including in front of the net, where 13 usually ends up. Nino's grit would help maintain O-zone possession & make room for 55 & 81 while also providing much needed defensive ability to the top line. This might cause concern about disrupting the chemistry of our 3rd line, but if they can trust Namestnikov at #2 C then there's no reason he can't be trusted to hold down 3rd line LW. If he doesn't fit, then finding a #3 LW is far easier than finding a #2 C. The jets used (pissed away) a lot of assets on rentals last year & don't have as many to use this year & can't afford to part with the few decent prospects they possess. If the Jets are to win in the playoffs they're going to need another 2nd line center… again. They have to explore every option within the organization first before contemplating trades. So at least try this idea FFS!
