Again, waiting for surgery, couldn't watch or listen to the game just some highlights after the fact.
First, Minnesota is missing several good players due to injury. So are the Oilers.
Next, Leon was all over this game. His assist on the Kapanen goal was a keep away for the ages (eventually against 2 players). One Goal and Three Assists on the night. He's got 4 Goals and 6 Assists over the last 4 games. Folks that's 2.5 points per game. He leads the league in Goals and Game Winning Goals right now.
He didn't do it alone. Podkolzin multipoint night. McDavid multipoint night. Bouchard (who got hurt after a late hit INTO Pickard by Hartman who should face some suspensions for it but that's a Player Safety thing so who knows) had a multipoint night too. Nurse (who has been playing some of his best hockey of late) had 2 Primary Assists for a multipoint night.
We got 2 of 4 on the PP. Let in 1 of 3 on the PK. Got a shortie on another of their opportunities. Derek Ryan scored a goal (his 1st of the year). Ty Emberson got into a really good fight (and when the Oilers fight they "tend" to win) and he is from the Minnesota area so lots of his family in attendance (and he got an Assist on the Shortie too). Stecher got his 2nd goal of the season. Brown got his 4th (and it was the shortie). All 4 lines scored.
Many said the Oilers would be lucky to get 2 of 4 on the 4 game swing against Tampa Bay, Minnesota, Vegas, and Florida. We won the first two (in very different ways) but with both of those games showcasing that we DO have Defense (please let Bouch just have something minimal, loosing him would be a big hit). Two more games to go.
LA lost tonight to the Devils but Vegas beat Winnipeg in OT. Canucks won, Flames lost, Seattle won so while we gain ground on LA we just keep pace with Vegas. We really need to beat them to close the gap somewhat.
Take care all
