Don't let this distract you from the fact they got outshot 22-8 in the 2nd period and also gave up more breakaways then they had shots on the PP. They deserved to lose this.
To repeat an overused joke: “the Canes played like it was game 7. Unfortunately, so did the Leafs.” The Canes played the best defensive game I’ve seen. Hands down. They fought for that puck like letting it touch Ayres would kill him. I guess the best way to describe it would be to imagine those two goals Ayres let in were Leafs steamrolling him out of the crease. Now picture the absolute brawl that would ensue if a Leaf got anywhere near the goal. That aggressiveness and energy is what the Canes poured into their game third period. But hey, that’s hockey, baby!
Sorry but whoever is in charge of editing highlights for the NHL channel are useless, Never show any hits or fights, and hardly anything is mentioned about the EBUG in these highlights
As a leafs fan I'll say this. Why wasn't anything about David Ayres shown? None of his saves or even a mention of the emergency goalie situation. That was the special part about this game
had it been the other way where leafs win, eeeeeeveryone and i mean eeeeeveryo e would be bitching on how leafs stole this game and ripped a mans dream away.
