  1. wow, what does nashville see in barron that was worth giving carrier up? as a habs fan, i'm thrilled with this deal. gotta say though, trotz is a shit GM. how does he not even get a pick back?

  2. I thought with all that money they spent on Stankos and Marchessault Preds would try to make a move to turn their season around. I was expecting them to try and trade for Matheson. I guess they are giving up already.

  3. As a Habs fan, I really don't know what Barry Trotz saw in Barron to force him to pull the trigger on that deal but I really can't complain

  4. Barron has been showcased for so long with little to no results that im shocked we got Carier back for him.

Very similar to the Harris – Laine trade in my mind, just not at the same scale. Don’t be shocked if Struble is next, Mailloux ni

  5. Any chance you could add minor peripherals for dmen? Like hits, shots blocked, +/-? Or even mention that he could be a PP2 fit or a PK player.
I feel like having points up for dmen doesn’t really help at times. And yes I love to hear you talk about them, but it would be nice to have a visual on top of you saying “(so and so) is a great depth dman he can play on the bottom pair”.

I hope your mother’s procedure went well!

  6. I like PO Joseph as a Pens fan, he is sort of a bottom 3 D, he is best on the bottom pair but can play second pair with the right partner, like when he was with Letang.

  7. Yea we got Joseph back cause there’s some familiarity there especially since Petterson will be on the IR for awhile now. Not a bad move!

  8. Baron has a high ceiling, but was not getting the minutes. At 23 he is 5 yrs younger than Carrier, who was a non-factor D on the worst team…whose major attraction is that he is a francophone.
Canadiens have plenty of huge prospects, so it's good to give Baron a walk where he can keep up his progress to being a productive top 4 D in a couple of years. He is a great skater, blocks shots, can jump in and score, and has been showing lately that he can hit. He has better size than Carrier at 6-3 and 200+ lbs. Pred's win easily.

  9. When I was a new fan, I honestly thought future considerations was an actual thing teams kept track of. Kinda like "we did you a favor with the x trade, now it's your turn"

  10. sadly there is a 5 year difference in age and Carriere seems like a stop gap till the players in Laval are ready and Barron at 23 is too soon to give up on and should have gotten more time in Laval to develop. this might be another trade that Montreal lives to regret.

  11. Bold call on the Nashville/Montreal trade. I think you are right but Nashville is banking on potential and sometime "potential" becomes "reality".

  12. Pens are adding because Pettersson got hurt the other day and in Wilkes Barre a few of their defensemen are out injured as well.

  13. Despite their record, I don’t think Trotz is just going to sell. I think the trading of Carrier is to free up more cap space to go after a center, a position the team desperately needs help at.

  14. shoutouts to the blues for posting winter classic promo with the josephs 4 hours before the trade was announced. gonna miss pojo in the lou 😢

  15. I would’ve taken a flyer on coghlan instead of Joseph coming back but with pettersen getting hurt and then not giving up much of anything why not. Never thought he was good but most of their defense isn’t anyway lol

  16. I like the love to get back PO, I thought the pens should've kept him during the summer. Pens needed the help on the left side, he's familiar with the system looked good the second half of last year with Letang. I hope he bumps Grezlcyk out of the lineup

  17. Montreal needed stability and experience on the backend. Carrier brings more of that then Barron does.

Considering he was the most expendable of the NHL regulars this is a good move

  18. This was Armstrong moving a guy he couldn't use to a place where he'll get to play. The Blues are stacked with lefthanded D-men and Joseph was playing two games out of nine or something like that. He'll have the opportunity to get more NHL ice time in Pittsburgh.
