I haven't wanted to watch a game all year until tonight. It won't be a quick turnaround but something needed to change. The team seemed completely lethargic and disinterested. I questioned Lalonde at the end of last season. He might know hockey and schemes but when shit got tough he couldn't pull them out of it.
could have made this decision 9 games ago….
Was the water bottle bothering anyone else? 😂
The coaching difference is night and day. The roster obviously has major issues, but this is an experienced coach that isn’t going to let players get away with laziness. This is all a lot of us were asking for. These guys get paid millions to underperform, that is beyond unacceptable.
I've watched every single game since 2019 when Steve came back. This season was the first season since 2018 that I've not even bothered watching some games. That's a horrible thing to admit for me but I'll be watching tonight and the rest of the season.
A winning record everywhere he’s been. He’s excited to be (back) here. He’s hungry to win. This is a very good hire and I’m extremely excited to watch things change
I’m very happy Todd is our coach and I wish Derek Lalonde the best and hope he gets hired again soon he tried his best he still early in his head coach career
I feel bad for Larkin. I remember when he was basically the only good player on the team. He became the captain because he had to be and I think he's done a good job considering the circumstances. He could have decided to leave and join a contender, but he's committed/committing years of his youth to a team that has improved, but is still a losing team. And you still see people blaming him for it. I really want this team to get to the playoffs soon and at the very least perform well, so people blaming him can eat their words.
Great coach! He's going to win a Stanley Cup some day. Best of luck to McLellan and the Red Wings.
Food for thought.. this is the 1st experienced NHL coach the Red Wings have had in a decade.
Lalonde was bald
Todd does not have a team he can create a miracle with – nor should we expect him to. BUT he will make players understand what is expected from them and hold a fucking big mirror to their faces if they try and look away. Fire back in the room is good before the rot and mould infects new kids …..
He will not make any difference with the players on the team now
I think Lalonde’s a great coach. Detroit just needed a change up.Hope this is the answer
A head coach isn't there to make friends boys…this generation couldn't play in the league 15 plus yrs ago.
take the team to allen park, mcdc and the players will show you what it is to play for each other
Home run hire! Todd is a great coach, he’s a players coach. He’s one of the best coaches in the league and he’ll definitely make the season much more enjoyable. Followed a lot of teams Todd has coached, he’s definitely going to improve this team.
German Steel Seider and the Red Wings are gonna crush leaf's tonight! Let's Go Red Wings!!
First real coach since Babs. Finally
Dylan Larkin is NOT a captain. Crying and moping when you need to get motivated. It's a fresh start and time to be alive again. Comes to the presser not even wearing Red Wings gear.
Here we go….. Finally someone that seems to have an idea of how to get the rudder under control….. An organization reflects it leadership… Hope this guy has the right stuff to make this team into a contender again….
Player presser was a hostage video.😢
Wow kinda eating my word while watching this game.
Larkin hit it on the head… they are lacking motivation!
an interview where I didn't hear "I like the compete of the guys"
Draft a good young goaltender. Start there guys!
The players look like they just attended a funeral. Larkin seems shot both mentally and physically., Kane is obviously disgusted by the whole debacle and Seider is too young and talented to care about anything except playing the game.
