Latvia won in a shootout. Hardly an impressive win. YES they never lost but Latvia has still never beaten Canada in Reg time, or in OT, only a shootout, a crap shoot where anything can happen and the team element has been removed.

Nothing wrong with those kids from Latvia beating Canada. Congratulations to them, I always feel bad for those developing national teams that come back to the tournament year after year to get their sorry butts kicked right back onto the plane. Is an occasional win over the hockey juggernauts such a bad thing? No, it’s good for the game, they are probably having the best Christmas ever for themselves and their nation. Hopefully it doesn’t get into the Canadian’s heads too, too much for the remainder of the tournament, still want ultimate tournament success for our Canadian squad, but happy for those underdogs this morning.

And, should Marner reach 400 goals (he should, probably closer to 500 actually if I had to guess, but for my purposes I will use 400 since that's also what Steve did) it'd probably more likely be 130th place roughly. There are at least 15 active players with more than 300 points I could list off who are still playing who are going to get over 400 barring a freak accident. Matthews being the gimme. Jamie Benn is only 10 goals away from that himself. Three Oilers probably? Hyman is a bit of a question mark on that. Still impressive, more just a case of it bothered me to assume no one else was going to score lol.

As I was watching Team Canada imitate the Maple Leafs yesterday against team Latvia, I couldn't help but think: FU*K!!!!!
Seriously? I doubt the US team will have any trouble with Latvia today, which means the US is going to kick Canada's ass if we make it anywhere near the quarter or semi-finals.
It is simply too difficult to be a fan of any Canadian team anymore. Thank God for the Raptors a few years ago, otherwise we haven't had a in championship in Canada since 1993 when the Canadians won the Stanley Cup.
I hope I never have to hear 'trade Mitch Marner' again. You can start on the other guy now.

Went to the game last night and a few things:
-Last time Nick Robertson played in Detroit he scored 2 goals in a preseason win in October.
-Attendance was 50-50 maybe 55-45 Leafs fans
-Last night put Detroit in a tie with Chicago as most road victories for the Leafs at 123, NYR is 122
-I was chatting with a few fellow Leafs fans and told them I hope to see Robertson score and a hat trick lol
-Shoutout to the hecklers behind me heckling Holl of all people XD
-Wings had nobody injured and we were without Matthews. Our all time record without Matthews is insane. Something like 42-22-2 along those lines.
