Do the Bruins make the playoffs?
We scored FOUR goals! Freddy scored! 😁
And we got two servings of Pasta 🍝 🍝
When a team doesn't trust their goalie, they play back on their heels, not focused on scoring.
Toronto is now a team where you need your goalie involved in transitions and scoring.
This type of game is what I expected last playoffs, but Mathews didn't show up and Bruins got further than they should have
Getting that standing with 15 overtime loser points
Woll has made a difference for Toronto
Congratulations to Knies… As a hockey fan that would've been fun to watch if it was against a different opponent!
These are all elite outstanding professional athletes that are struggling for one reason or another
I don't believe any Bruins player goes to Boston to phone it in.
The puck is on Sweeney's stick.
Waiting for his shot.
Thanks for the balanced recap.
Happy Sunday
Are we hiding the kids, down in Providence, from a future expansion draft??? Bring them up. They at, at least, find the net. We also need to bring up one of our big, nasty defensemen. The, sit any of the ‘stars’ that forget how to play Boston Team Hockey.
The coaching staff needs to stop this constant line shuffling. They also need to get Coyle off the second line. Marchands numbers have tanked since being reunited with Coyle for the second time this season. Look at the beginning of the season Coyle was centering the line with Marchand and he had maybe 2 goals. Then Lindholm with Marchand, he got his scoring touch back. Now Coyle on the Wing, Marchand is in a scoring drought. One common denominator. Coyle.
Yeah this team is kinda a “bad version” of okay… what I mean is they have moments in some games they look a little better than okay but soon fall back to being bad. I feel like the Flames for decades were like this.. which made the changes difficult to pinpoint and made management hesistate.
lol I feel same about power play it is painful. They need to do something with the defense I mean re-teach them the role.
Rask was elite???? Maybe in a pee-wee house league. His numbers looked good because he played for a great defensive team. I got tired of the argument and finally crunched the numbers. I included every goaltender that played for the Bruins during Rask's tenure. Rask is nowhere near the top of any category. The closest is goals against average where he came in 3rd. I looked at goals against average, save percentage and quality starts. You'd be surprised how poorly he compares to other goaltenders who played for the Bruins during his career. I know it's a prickly subject with Rask fanatics but the numbers and eye test don't lie.
It looks like the interim coach will be replaced and a major trade. They will make the playoffs IMO.
Zero points on a 3 game road trip is telling. At this point, I'd like to see more Baby Bs because the existing roster is "uninteresting"
Boston will never win withe these over paid band boys.
They better show up Sunday at the garden. Are they gonna get booed? We don't wanna see 4 games in a row.
But one game they can look so so good and the next game. That's so so bad. There's no consistency it sucks
Swayman just needed to make 1-2 "oh wow" saves, but he was extremely mediocre. On the bright side, Brazeau brings it every game.
Charlie M😮accavoy is not playing Like he has the past 2 seasons, something's wrong?
Doesn't look like himself.
Amazing Laurie last year looked very good and this year. He's another one he has a good game.Has a bad game.I don't know what's going on
Man, even Jack Edwards in his prime would have trouble finding good things to say about the Bruins this season. Unfortunately, its probably gonna take something like missing the playoffs (so the Jacobs miss out on some money) before any real changes happen. If they make the playoffs and the Jacobs get 2-3 games worth of playoff revenue, they will view the season as a success.
I think the Bruins defence looks so bad as a whole is the defensive coach , who has to go , leach has our defence looking clueless most of the time. They don't know where they should be nor what they should be doing, unlike last few years.I can see nobody else to blame.
Tampa has 5 games in hand…you can’t keep hoping (perhaps relying is a better word) they lose so you can stay ahead of them in the standings. That game last night needs to be a wake up call. The Zacha-nak line has chemistry and can generate offense. Marchand and Lindholm work well together so keep that pairing. I’m going to temporarily jump on the bandwagon blaming Swayman because he’ll make some great saves and allow total blooper goals and this team seems to lose their composure when that happens. That’s all for the Sway hating today. The defense hung him out to dry numerous times last night and no goalie can continually stop opponents in that scenario. They’re average this season and it’s the opposite of what we’re accused to. I do place blame on Sweeney to a certain extent and perhaps he should be the next to go. The 2010 / 2011 roster was the perfect example of what good signings and decisions can accomplish. I don’t think Sweeney has the same talent for building a roster that Peter Cirelli had. I hope it’s not time for a rebuild, but rather a small retooling. This team will need some luck (other teams losing and them winning more than they are now) to make the playoffs and have any success.
They really need to look at players like Carlo, Coyle, Beecher, Freddy, even McAvoy.
The team is screwed, Tampa with 5 gms in hand, Ottawa with 3 gms in hand. Bruins will be out of a playoff spot before the month is out.
I'd trade Swayman Swisscheese, and the coaching staff responsible for the PP.
Almost ever goal on Sway is high over both gloves. He's really weak up high.
Don't even get me started on the weak D.
The team is in shambles. The dump and chase is clearly not working, and they can't get in over the line carrying the puck.
Definitely not Swayman’s fault, can someone please fire Sweeney and Neely? Please, pretty please
Another stinker from the Bruins .. and lack of key saves from a supposedly elite Swayman. So tiresome …
Great report, agree with the expectation’s. They are an average team, the roster is not well stocked.
I agree with you about the Bruins being just "average" this year, but I really think they played suprisingly well against Toronto. I started watching the game full on expecting it to be a blow out. In the end, the Toronto simply outplayed the Bruins defense. I have heard people calling Swayman "swiss cheese Swayman", but I seriously think it isn't fair strictly blaming the goalie for the Bruins overall horrible defense.
Sweeney and Neely NEED to be fired for this disaster of a roster construction. Zadorov had his worst game last night by far. 6M a year for this guy is a travesty.
We need just the first line center, and we can’t get that with Zacha or Lindy there is nobody that is able to do what Bergy could with Marchand and pasta on that line. Their chemistry was great. They need to find somebody and stick with it. Let them develop chemistry and stick with it for a year. Also the have a 40/60 shot at making playoffs as a wild card
We suck this year, Maple Loafs dominated us. 😢
I’m with you on lowering expectations. We’re at the what you see is what you get part.
My favourite part of the game was when Matthews destroyed Marchand.
Yeah, that’s the approach I’ve taken recently. This team has had so much success in the last 18 years, they were due for a rough one. The timing sucks because of the current feud with Florida(they’ve got another crack at em Saturday😊). But you have to remember that their performance doesn’t reflect on you. It’s their mess. Also, this season kind of feels like the first days all over again, when Julien first came in and that blue collar system was first put in place. It was fun watching them get progressively better. So just enjoy NHL hockey as a whole. Be inspired by all the good players even on other teams. Revel in it the same way you would appreciate the pure muscle of a Charger Hellcat JailBreak(you can probably think of a better car, but that’s just me).
I've come to realize, this is going to be the year that, we do JUST ENOUGH. Just enough to get into first round (I am HOPING!!!)
but it will be one and done. We're not built to go deep. I was in TO for the playoff series, working downtown. The local crew were Leafs fans, and even they knew, there was no way. I've emailed a couple of them, over this season, and it's very different. The feel is MUCH better.
i'd like to see more Providence call-ups just for the sake of seeing something DIFFERENT.
time to waive swayman
Is Sacco still responsible for the PP? Do what it takes to bring Mark Recchi as head coach!
🐻 are performing above expectations…. which were set pretty low going into this season. Time to reassess and not mortgage next couple seasons just to make this season’s playoffs! That’s it.
I’d take a team of small Brendan Gallagher or Stan Johnathan’s,for the old timers, over these huge, sluggish, and passive players.
First Round? That's a laugh. Boston Slide out of contention is underway and is similar to the Ball drop in Times Square.
Swayman looks to be just yet another part of Boston’s longstanding tradition of having overpaid, glorified, ultimately losing, goalies. Even the (in my mind) disappointing performer Tuuka Rask didn’t win a Stanley Cup as the number one – the one Cup he did win was as the understudy of Tim Thomas. That wasn’t his up.
The Boston Bruins having a glorified, ultimately losing, goaltender. Uh, it’s “just what they do.” Still, I route for them. It’s “just what I do”! 🤷♂️
I’ve been wondering all season how our defenseman continually get the basics wrong. They are so unsound positionally it’s amazing. They teach defensemen that stuff from mites. The B’s have no excuses.
Earlier in the season I watched the B’s float all over the ice and not clear the slot in a matinee. Then watched Harvard play a nearly perfect positional game in the evening. If you swapped uniforms you would not know that the B’s were the NHL team.
I’ve thought for a long time that McAvoy doesn’t quite have the presence to be an elite defenseman. I don’t hold that against him, those guys don’t grow on trees. But maybe we should stop pretending he’s the next Chara or Bourque. He’s just a good defenseman. Not great- good
