Notable for Johansson was in the first. Big check to knock Ottawa off the puck. Ottawa gets the puck back. Shoots and Johansson blocks the shot. And draws a high stick. Solid shift.

  2. Johansen was fantastic last night, if you actually paid attention, he bodied tkachuk several times down low and drew two penalties from him, to play as well as he did as young as he is after being sat too often by lalonde is very impressive, and quite honestly they outplayed Ottawa 3 out of 4 periods, the 2 goals Ottawa scored were flukey, yes it was fairly even in shots, but the wings have consistently outplayed every team then last 5, mclellen is playing the young players in crucial situations, and the team is thriving. All the things lalonde wasn't doing from a roster move situation pre and in game that anyone with common sense could see they should've been doing, mclellen is doing, and this team is on pace to make that last wild card spot. I'm telling you right now, baring major injuries, this team is gonna make the playoffs, mark my words. I did not think this was gonna happen at any point this year not even to start the season, this coaching move is no different than what florida did when they hired Maurice, anybody who disagrees can come back to this comment and suck it in 3 months.

  3. Trump "what a great win, a beautiful win, we won in the greatest way you could, everyone knows it, many people said we couldn't win, but we have , we won, and now we're winning again. " jokes a side LGRW fun to watch, a lot of work to do still but we're on a heater and let's keep it going.

  4. Why are other teams doing better on second period long line changes, perhaps the Redwings are the last ones to get the scouting report on themselves?

  5. This feels like a game where, just a few weeks ago, the team would have collapsed after a couple bad calls and bad bounces in the 2nd period. This is the team from the end of last year that refuses to lose without scratching and clawing to the end. It’s so much fun to watch. What a fun game to watch

  6. Kane wasn’t producing bc of style of play and system that was deployed. The last few LaLonde games, you could see LaLonde allowing for more offense…putting 88 with better line mates…and production started. This entire team could’ve been playing like this the whole season. Old coaching staff overreacted to the defense lapses from last season and they destroyed things the first half of this season.

  7. Told you we needed to fire a useless coach like lalonde and things would turn around. Wings should of done that after losing to the sharks but hesitation messed it up

  8. Kane has great hands on the PP but I would still would trade him at the deadline if we could get a 1st rounder or a 2nd and a big talented prospect. If we do make the playoffs we will not go far with one bonified center and Kane will be a free agent. Remember we are rebuilding and need to think long-term.

  9. Funny you should mention AARP, Brian. It's available to everyone now apparently! Saved me $100 on phone activation fees this year!

  10. Lalonde micromanaged the team to be "mechanical", he didn't want actual results on W-L columns, he was worried about the processes being followed.

TM, told the guys to just play hockey! 9/10 times when a boss let's the workers work, there will be positive output in production!

It's human nature that the majority of adults do not want and will not be productive when micromanaged!

  11. It’s not just the fact that Todd’s coaching style seems to work well for the wings, or at least better than Lalonde’s style. The fact that the coach was replaced in general has had a huge impact on the team too, as it does with most teams. When you’re out there playing how they were playing aka just going through the motions, and then suddenly as a result of how you and the boys have been playing, a man gets fired, his family might have to move, and his reputation could take a hit -all because the boys were not working hard enough, it’s usually enough to wake the team up and get them motivated to work hard again. It gets real when people start losing their jobs and no one wants to be responsible for that. So that’s why coaching changes usually wake a team right up, as it’s done here, regardless of the coach’s skill. If a new coach can wake a team up AND his skill/style really fits with the team, it’s the best of both worlds.

  12. The fact that we had 10+ players with 10 or more goals each last year was amazing, but unsustainable. So people should try to keep realistic expectations for guys like Copp etc.

  13. If the wings were 8/16 PP, then went 2/3 last night, wouldn’t that make them….10/19?

  14. Happy b-day Brian. I remember turning 29 and thinking this is the perfect age! Another fine podcast boys, always informative.
That was a perfect Patty Kane day, we scored our Patrick Kane bobble head figures and he scored the O.T. winner, just awesome! We were so happy to see all the Sens fans go home sad. The second best part of that game was scoring the pp
goal with Brady Thuchuck in the box for ripping Simon Edvinson's helmet off.

  15. Nice knowing we finally got that 3rd period comeback win. We were 0-13 when trailing after 2. Ottawa is like 11-2 when leading after 2. So that's a big win.
