  1. It’s not difficult to understand, trading him is the way to go, it’s the highest his value will be, you absolutely trade him between now and the start of next season.

  2. If you are actually committed to the retool/rebuild then trading Rasmus Andersson should be obvious. Keeping him would be the typical Calgary Flames move that has kept us in the middle of the pack for decades. His deal would kick in when he's almost 30 and what would be the minimum going rate? 8 million x 7 or 8 years? You saw what we got for Elias Lindholm, Rasmus will easily be one of the most coveted options at the trade deadline. You could get all those assets plus pick up another Dman in free agency (if you really wanted to) for far less money and term. You also have Parekt, Brzustewicz, Poirier, Morin on their way, maybe more in the next draft. Where are you going to fit all of them? Rasmus is a very legit top-pairing defenseman but he's not a superstar either who drastically affects our wins and losses. If he was (like how he played to start the season) that would be another story entirely. Does anyone regret Lindholm leaving? If not it's almost the exact same situation, he was a number 1 line centre even more coveted perhaps than even a top defenseman. Elias wasn't a superstar either and Boston is figuring that out right now.

  3. To be completely honest, I wasn’t happy with him with couple games. I think Weegar is a bit more consistent than him. I get everyone has their down time and stuff but for now Ras or Weegar should be the last piece to move. Would much rather look for trade options for Kadri, Vladar and Kuzy, clear up some roster spots and bring up young guys or hope to get a goal scorer.

  4. Trade … it sucks to tank, but the Flames might as well and get some really young, really skilled talent in the prospect pool. Build a new rink, and have it done as that group starts launching.

If you’re not first, you’re last.

  5. Boomer has been very grumpy heh . I usually agree with Dean but He has had some bad takes as of late…

  6. Pinder is out to lunch if they thing Andersson is worth 9M x 8. Boomer is right on this issue.

  7. Born in WPG, living in CGY for many years now. The only 2 teams I want to see win it all would be either CGY or WPG. Guys… Which team is closer? If you are honest, you know it's WPG. So, here's what you do… Trade Weegar, Lomberg and Andersson to WPG.

Okay I know what you are thinking now… THIS GUY IS INSANE. If WPG gets those 3, their chance of winning the cup this year or next goes through the roof and EDM will HATE to play WPG then. That means CGY goes into a quick rebuild with the following:

The Jets give Calgary – Cole Perfetti (current 2nd line C/RW) – former 10th Overall pick, the Jets 1st & 2nd round picks in the next draft, PLUS they get to pick up 2 guys in the Jets prospect pool. That could be guys like Lambert, Barlow, Yager, Salomonsson, etc… former 1st or 2nd round picks. ALSO, the Jets add in 2 of their current D – Players that CGY could pick from (other than Morrissey and Samberg). So, CGY takes (for example) Pionk and Demelo (Jets current #1 and #2 RHD) and gets faster on D and even more defensively responsible.

Add that up… Current young #2 RW/C, Current #1 RHD, Current #2 RHD, plus #1 & #2 Picks in the upcoming draft and 2 prospects who could all be former 1st or 2nd round picks. That's 3 current NHL'ers and up to 2 kids who will be in the NHL next year and 2 more in the following years. So, CGY takes a step back this year, but not HORRIBLY.

Andersson and Weegar and definitely better than Pionk and Demelo, but not light years… just better, no question. Lomberg would be missed from CGY, but he would be SO much more important to a cup run for WPG and getting Perfetti back who is young and plays Center and Wing would help CGY in the long term. Plus 4 top draft picks.

  8. Rass is a great right shot D. Aren't those hard to come by? Ideally, $7mill. or less per year.

  9. I'm ok either way. It's a GREAT problem to have tbh — especially as the team has 3 or more RHD behind. My take might not be popular, but if he likes it here and is a good teammate, then keep him. The energy of a good dressing room can't be seen when playing armchair GM. A great D-core is critical to winning a cup. No more than 7.75 or 8M though.

  10. He’s a very good dman. Top 4 on any team. The argument for me is why trade a homegrown guy who has panned out well for us for a pick that might pan out. Maybe a young centre May make it easier to take, or at the end of next season pay the man. It doesnt need to be stated that he’ll be past the age that a rebuilding team may be keen on, but he’s going to be a solid dman throughout his career. I’m trusting Connie on this one. He’s good

  11. This is not even debatable folks. I love Ras and respect his game BUT you trade him without a doubt.. His value at this year's trade deadline will be huge he has a favourable contract the remainder of this year and next Conroy can get a great haul for Ras.. we have Parehk and Mews who will be great for the future but I can tell Yas I scouted Etienne Morin recently and he's the real deal such a solid D man with offense to his game as well he scored a goal he was very very noticeable for the Wildcats..

  12. as much as I love Anderson we need to actually rebuild if we want success in the future we don’t wanna be stuck in the middle every year .

  13. Guy in the middle has the worst takes and just loves to argue . Hard to watch with this guy on the video
