The Leafs without excellent goaltending are not a first place Divisional hockey team. In actual fact they should be fighting for a Wild Card if not for their goaltending this season!
The fact that Savard doesn’t have AUSTON MATTHEWS just waiting on the dot for a one timer on the power play is fucking atrocious. Not only that, but on the other side is William Nylander. Two legitimate one timer threats on either side and they can’t do shit with it. You have Mitch Marner who is one of the best playmakers in the league to feed these guys and they can’t do it. John Tavares has made a career of being in front of the net and they can’t do it.
But instead they are all skating around, going into the corner, making stupid backhand saucer passes that get picked off constantly. There’s no crispness in their passes, it’s these bouncing slow passes that the other team already reads before it gets to the other guys tape.
Leads are waiting for groudhog day to see if it's gonna be another early spring.
