I'm over here just being happy I get to watch the whole game again , win or lose i can handle if they compete, for a bit there it was insulting to tune in the games. But I agree in being realistic in what we need to do as a team to have a better next season and beyond.
Honestly, the Rangers have looked better this past week. The defense, minus Miller and Lindgren have been much better. Rempe since his last suspension looks like he finally understands just how much shit he was in, within the League and has not, played recklessly these two past games back. I want to see Rempe play physical but he does need to learn when to go for bone crushing hits. I must also admit, Will Borgen seems like a good player for the Rangers. So I'd hold off on trading him just yet. I'm still not pleased with Lavi though. With all of this being said. I'll wait another few weeks to see if the Rangers really found there chemistry again. I do not want to get my hopes up. The only Ranger I see being traded away atm now is Zac Jones since he has all but demanded to be traded. I don't expect Jones to be moved until the trading deadline or, during the off-season.
They beat a good team in the Devils then Vegas in Vegas and both without Chytil or Kreider. Thought Miller played his best game, maybe there’s hope. There’s still cap space to get or trade for value.
Kappo Kakko with his first career Hatty. We just knew this was gonna happen. Glad to him performing. The Rangers finally figured out that defending your own end gives you a chance to win. Run and gun doesn't since we have little ammunition. lol We still need to be tougher to play against bring in players that can fulfill that agenda. LGR
I know I was in the minority but for months now and even in the past few years I've been wanting to trade Chytil. He's a good player but very injury prone. He's showed flashes of brilliants but not consistent enough. I think when he does come back Drury should look to move him. Anaheim is a spot to deal him to. Gudas is the player I would want back. Maybe something like Chytil and Lindgren for Gudas and a pick.
Gudas is the type of defenseman we need for this season and the near future. He's a rough and tough defenseman and a plus player on a bad team. That's exactly what were looking for
Maybe trade Jones OR Borgen, not both. They are decent 3rd liners and should be affordable. I'd like to keep one of them.

Maaaybe Mika is turning a corner? he's had 2 goals and 5 assists in the last 5 games, and his +/- is a modest +1. Maybe the trade talk has lit a fire under his ass.
Not Smart to trade Borgen he is a solid physical Dman something we need. We can keep him for about $3.5M/3yrs. Of course he will not get a NMC.

Doubt that teams will trade their stars for our underperformers. They will want the younger players – the future of this team.
Riley Smith isn't the cause of our problems, he plays hard and well. Same for Carrick.
I don't disagree about Miller's awful play this year – but I don't understand why the team doesn't give the guy the same month break as Igor got last year. A chance to work with outside coaches and get his mojo back. Miller has the size/speed/reach/skills to be the defenseman Rangers desperately need…. or we can trade him for nothing and watch him excel elsewhere.
I'd move Miller & Jones & even Chytil at the deadline. Why trade Borgen, he looks like a solid D out there. They may trade Reilly Smith but I still like the way he plays. I stumbled onto the third period of s free Wolfpack game last night & Mancini & Robertson both looked pretty good to me. The Pack couldn't score & Othmann did not play his best game, but they were missing Groulx who is a go to guy there.
J. Quick should also be traded. Also would love to trade Ruhwedel and Brodzinski who can be replaced by younger and more rugged Groulx. Vaakanainen should definitely be available in a trade either as a throw in or if somebody is interested.
Also Kakko's play with the Kraken should be enough to get Drury and Laviolette fired.
So we are going to add K-Andre Miller to Kappo Kakko, Lias Andersson, Vitaly Kravtsov and perhaps even Zac Jones to the long and storied list of young players, 1st rounders and rookies that the New York Rangers have either ruined or squandered. Brett Howden, who was skewered by the NY hockey media and fans has won two Cups with Vegas and is a regular NHLer and legit 2-way center. Anthony Duclair always scores on us whenever we see him (and I cheer for the kid every time he does). Our team is will never learn and never change how it does things or treats players. I keep hearing that Borgen is trade bait, came in as trade bait, etc. Has anyone noticed that since he's come in, the Rangers D had improved? Im not saying he's causing it, but he's definitely a part of it. Why not keep him? Same with Vakanainen. Just 2 steady D first, nothing fancy guys that our D core needed to improve.

Adam (Faux) Fox makes $9.5M per and cowers at the prospect of playing physical (playoff style) hockey. A defensman who cannot physically answer the bell is useless. Especially while eating $9.5M in cap space…. Watch him play and stop listening to Sam and Joe kissing his butt.
This is about 85 years of embarrassment and futility, save for 1994. How does an "Original Six" team fall so far from Grace ? Perhaps it started when Dale Rolfe took a beating from Dave Schultz. Not ONE Ranger stepped in to help Rolfe. After that, it was years of getting beat up. When we DID have a physical presence, it didn't last due to injury or suspension e.g., Barry Beck, George McPhee, Nick Fotiu, Joey Kocur, etc. There is a problem with the Ranger ethos and standards. Messier has spoken to this. This "Franchise" should be tough, talented, and a contender every year. You don't need to win the cup every year, but once a decade is not farfetched. Ranger fans should be insulted and apoplectic. I had season tickets for 31 years, and it was not inexpensive. Clearly, I was the sucker.
What would a realistic package for KAndre Miller look like at this point?
i disagree if this team finds it way into the playoffs, I can guarantee no one is going to want to play them as the 7th or 8th seed!!!
K'Andre Miller has had more than his opportunity to prove his worth and, imo, he's failed miserably. Jones, when given the chance, like last year during Trouba's injury, played great. Keep Jones and definitely trade Miller. Smith has been playing the same way every night. Definitely worth his salary. Same for Sam Carrick.
I cannot believe you are talking trades the minute after the team is getting it together! They have played 2-3 good games and the apathy seems to be waning! Don’t keep threatening their careers, who could play well with that hanging over their heads. Shut the hell up!!!
Now is not the time to panic, relax, don't force bad trades like Kakko. Wait for good solid opportunities instead. Take solid steps to toughen up and defense.

They are making the playoffs as long as they continue to play the way they are playing. If Dury was smart he would extend Borgen, trade Miller Jones and Krieder. That’s about it!
2019 Blues. That happened. Borgen is a good second pair d man. Reilly has been one of our best neutral zone forwards and I like him . Remember a lot of changes that were needed happened and it was going to take at least a month to get it all figured out. If it looks horrible by the end of February sure maybe get rid of some of these players but it’s too early to be saying this is the path.
Miller Kreider can still fit in but I think trading Kreider for sure could yield a nice return, although I respect him and appreciate what he has given to the Rangers over his career. The Jones ship has sailed.
