The Capitals are playoff ready, so yes, he is worth what they spent on him. For a goalie they didn't need. PLD is a piece to the puzzel in a 16-win spring on the hill. Good luck, D.C. 2025 can be the second cup. 🧩
Boomer is grumpy this week
Feisty Boomer is always a great thing!
This is such a good show. They should expand to doing league-wide stuff more often
We flipped Laine for Dubois and then dodged a huge bullet with Dubois (5G) and traded him to LA for Vlardi (19G), Iafalo (6G) and Kupari (3G). Vlardi #1 line top power play, Iafalo 4th line but moves up with injuries and kills penalties, Kupari 4th line Center and kills penalties. Dubois stats in Wpg were all a result of playing with Kyle Connor and #1 power play. He was useless but really tough after the whistle with face washes.
Maybe he realized that if he played poorly for a fourth team, his time in the NHL would be coming to an end. Where was he drafted Pinder? You have to draft top 5 so you can get a guy like PLD who finally figures it out after being traded to his 4th team?
Wrong about L.A. players not liking PLD, and Doughty didn't name PLD, he slammed some players who were selfish, looking at their own stats. I thought he was referring to 2nd line. If Blake had a brain he would have put PLD on Kope's line. Blake must go!
The guy in the middle has no idea what he’s talking about
PLD must've banged dude in the middles wife or something
Dubois does everything in washington. Good amount of Assists, brings the puck into the O zone, shuts down top lines, wins battles along the boards, hits hard, good on faceoffs, and great skating. He reminds me a lot of jack eichel who scores less but is more physical.
He's kickin ass in D.C. Happy for him & the Caps, so while others can bitch about it, Caps don't care. Off-Loaded overpaid average Goalie for huge upside. Love it
Can anyone blame a guy that’s not happy in Winnipeg or Columbus? Who wants to be in Winnipeg or play for the Bluejackets? Matt Roy signed in Washington and said the guys in LA liked PLD.
PLD has been lights out great in DC. In his interviews, he seems to love the room and the organization, and comes off as a really humble guy. Ovi apparently called him minutes after the trade and welcomed him to the team, followed by Wilson and Carlson, so they immediately made him feel welcome. Maybe that was missing in the other cities, who knows? Prior to him coming to DC, I had heard all the drama around him but I wasn't all that familiar with his actual play. He works hard on every shift, is a premier passer, and rarely makes a bad decision on the ice. Loving his addition to the team, at least to this point in the season.
Seems like the Kings didn't know how to use PLD to his fullest with their style of play. AND he's a much better center than Kuznetsov because he is a TWO way player the Caps needed in a center. Kuzy was wildly inconsistent. Caps love him, he's bought into the locker room culture in DC
why is it so hard for some people to admit they were wrong?
