  1. I think the Avs FO made the best of of the situation considering the circumstances. That being said its a pretty bad look if Nate truly didn't see the trade coming. Gotta keep your star players in the loop on trades like these, but maybe that reflects more on Mikko than it does on Chris MacFarland.

  2. This sends the wrong message to the team and leads like McKinnon.

Necas is good but ownership just said we’re not contenders.

  3. These DH reporters can’t speak loud enough to hear their questions. Sorry, just pissed we lost Miko.

  4. You can see that Nate is hurt badly, losing a good friend. The connection should have counted more, like selanne&kariya, kurri&gretzky, lemiux&jagr etc.

  5. GMs will never understand the emotional side of the game. This is the start of the downfall of Colorado just wait. Rant was Mack’s best linemate. It’s the same as if Leon left Conor or Mitch leaves Austin. You very well could trade a great player and make another great player leave.

  6. at this point there is multiple reports the Avs are looking for another C. I don't know if Miller is that guy and there have been some reports out there about the Islanders Brock Nelson. With the heartbreak of losing one of the best friends and possibly even adding more new guys (sooner than later) you really have to ask yourself about any chemistry this team might have.

  7. Oilers fan here.
Just wanted to say im sorry for Avs fans.
This totally bites for you guys right now.

Im hoping maybe necas can be a consistent point per game guy.
Also, maybe mikko goes to free agency and really cashes in for 14-15 mil per.
I dont think you guys could of afforded that against the cap while being in the hunt.

    So, we'll see.

Also, Nate has rrally matured over the last few years ehich is good to see
Good time for landi to come back into the line up.

  8. That 14m salary is media rumour not fact. I believe Mikko said on (Finnish) interview he was just focusing on games, believing they will later find an agreement. He said he hopes fans don't believe everything what's said on media. This was before the trade obviously. At the end of the day it comes down to Mikko's agent and the Avs, not only to the player himself.

  9. Maybe this is a win-win situation for both teams and all players. Both teams that received players are in a good position and the interesting season continues.

  10. I was leading my hockey pool because I have McKinnon, Rantanen and Makar. All those PP points.

  11. Wow 😮 McKinnon is really visibly sad that Mikko Rantanen is no longer with the Avs.

  12. Mikko said he wanted to stay and lowered his salary request so f u avs! Hope u wont win anything but I guess I dont need to hope cos u really wont win anything anymore

  13. Genuinely thought 96, 29 and 8 would go up in the rafters together one day. Gutted

  14. Hopefully a lesson for future players. If youre happy with where you are and are willing to settle for a bit under the MAX payout, settle your extension before the deadline. The team takes all the risk when players are coming toward free agency as they can go to whomever pays them the most money. We're in a cap era where funds become limited.

  15. “A lot of different emotionals”, was the most Trailer Park Boys thing Nate has ever said in an interview.

  16. It's crazy both fan bases are sad over this trade, Necas was my favorite player, he's going to be a beast when he gets settled in with the avs

  17. Mikko did NOT want 14M AAV, this is a media rumor that's been exploited by the Finnish Media interviews with Mikko himself. It appears the star players were blindsided as well, including Mikko himself with the trade. That being said, NO TEAM has won a cup with a player making MORE than 10M per year. The lightning and panthers did it with a couple players making precisely 10M AAV but no more. Mikko was and still is one of my fave players, and albeit not a fan of moving him I see why it was done. I could even see Rantanen somehow making his way back on the team in the near future (although obv very unlikely) but I am in hopes we grab Miller as a 2C. Middlestadt has been awful this year and I wouldn't be opposed to moving him out for a better option as well.
