Sakic handing Borque the cup before raising it first brought a tear to the eye of the entire hockey world.
Can you do players drafted b4 kaprizov?
Was watching the Ray Bourque year, 2001. I played hockey but this was the year I really started watching hockey. I was 11. It was something to witness. I knew a little bit of lore. Years later I understood the significance.
Wheres your love for Lanny MacDonald?
Rudwigs
Lanny McDonald
How you gonna make this list and not mention Lanny McDonald
Kimmo Timonen also retired after winning his first cup with Chicago in 2015.
Ken daneyko 2003
Every Stanley Cup winning player retired after winning the Cup except for the ones still playing.
❤
Never forget that Recchi got put out on the ice for the last shift of Game 7, because he told the team he was retiring. Legend shit
Also smith pelly
Lanny Mcdonald? Wtf?
Absolute favorite moment of watching someone win THE CUP was Ray Bourque ….
Lifelong fan of the Bruins it was a tearful moment to finally see that !!🥲
Lanny Macdonald too
Lanny McDonald?
Ken Danyeko
Can't believe I watched okposo play for 17 seasons ….
Boo to Ray Bourque
Ray differently deserved that cup.
So many classic moments. Ray Bourque obviously for hockey history was huge. Gets me emotional every time. But I am also biased. I am a lifelong Buffalo resident and grew up watching Hasek give his all to this team. You will never see a goalie win 6 vezinas and 2 harts again. Also in there just dominate the Olympics to a level I think people forget. 6 games he played. He had 2 shutouts, and under 1GAA and just over a .960 sv%. And this wasn’t like he played a couple nhl bottom feeders. It was against quite possibly the best team USA, Canada and Russias that have played in the Olympics. Just absolutely stacked teams. So I didn’t begrudge him when he finally got his shot to win. He played so well. He deserved that…..as a side note he was actually second in GAA and Sv% in the league his often forgot ottawa season. That team was also stacked they just needed a goalie. Makes me wonder if he could have done it that year too.
