  1. This team is finding different ways to win every game. That’s the sign of a good team. Didn’t need a PP tonight, and they played a decent defensive game. The Wings took advantage of their scoring chances, and limited high danger shots from Calgary. Talbot is so consistent, he deserves a lot of credit for taking two points the last few games. Nice job boys, go Wings.

  2. In Edmonton was my first time seeing Johansson play live. Very impressive how he shutdown McDavid and Leon. He should hopefully be a very solid top 4 defenseman, for now and the future.

  3. Edmonton scored 2 goals that were just plain LUCKY. How many open chances did the Wings have and breakaways against Calgary. Their goalie BIG saves or Detroit 8- Calgary 2. Detroit needs another center or scorer and above average D-man. Maybe VT will start scoring then Detroit will bury the other teams. No penalties called, way to go Wings overcoming the refs and also passes from refs. ES and JV should of scored.

  4. 😂the last thing we need to do is be the next leafs and hand out 15 per to any 3-4 guys who become ufa’s …. #1 priority is signing edvinsson … He still has another season and it might be risky but I’d be trying to lock him up now while it’s still his first season.

Give him 7-7,25 x 8 years this summer . It’s a massive jump for a guy making under a mill with one season under his belt. If we believe in him take the gamble …. offer him bonus’s if he’s thinking about taking a 3-4 year deal to wait for the cap to keep climbing

Albert johansson next, if he keeps playing this good till seasons end give him 3 mill x 4 … a month ago he probably thought he never would get a 4 year deal . Then we make moves to surround the rest of the team. I heard a mention of resigning debrincat , I’m not even worried about him cause I’d say there’s a 0% chance Yzerman gives him a 7 or 8 year deal.

Get a stud Center and top 4 dman and let’s make some noise

  5. With McLellan being with LA, do you think looking at Alex Turcotte might be with it? Maybe has more upside that a change of scenery could unlock? Wouldn’t think it would cost more than Veleno and a swap of picks or prospects. Might be a cheap ish kick at the can for more depth production if they feel there is more to get out of his game. Pretty sure he had some injury issues after his draft year. Might be able to get someone whose development took a bit of a hit like Berggren’s did as he got over injury.

  6. One thing that wasn't mentioned is the possibility that any of the three players Brad mentioned could hold out for a new contract. Is it likely, hard to tell.

  7. If the the cap increases from 88 million to 95.5 million it is not a "colossal colossal increase". It's 7.5 million or the salary of one additional top six forward.

  8. The Red Wings need to let more of the young guns play. This podcast clearly needs to make more Simpsons references.

  9. The best part of the octopus was 2 people had to sneak them in, then hang on to them for 2 and a half periods. Dedication.
Jet setting around western Canada for this trip has been a blast. 2 hrs till game time in Van, LGRW!!

  10. Wings have a .750 points percentage under todd thru 18 games, only one game has been the single lower point. 27 out of a possible 36.

  11. Is anyone else annoyed by how many betting odds are at the bottom of the screen ever since Fan Duel took over? It was fine when Fan Duel was a sponsor, but now its just getting blasted everywhere. I dont care in the least on betting on sports, but def not hockey.

  12. I feel the only problem for Detroit is if the superstar wants to come to Detroit if it's via trade how many futures can Detroit afford to be picky on because like you boys said we don't have a superstar but besides maybe Cossa and ASP are you willing to give up a Kasper, Augustine, Kiiskinen, Buchnelikov, MBN, Finnie, Danielson, Mazur, Lombardi? We have a surplus of prospects to fill the bottom 9 in our roster but who are you willing to part with?

  13. Good episode 👏🏼
Question for Brad, what Ryan says about Seider on the PP – there is so much human to move around , is he wrong?👀
    Hughes is 5'10“ 180 lb , Makar 5'11” 187 , Karlsson is 6'0“ 186 , Seider on the other hand 6'4” 205.
remember Seider's hit against Karlsson in the middle of the ice ? Made him look like a kid. But yeah, he takes way too much time sometimes.
But who is also labeled as an elite PP player ? A 5'11" 185 Axel Sandin-Pellikka.
You can't expect Seiders skating to look like Makars or Hughes.

  14. Love the show ,I know Brad is the negative guy and sometimes he annoys me with his downer viewpoint, but I now realize it's an important aspect to add to a podcast and you need it to round out all sides of the conversation.
Look forward to your shows, keep up the good work. Even my wife who is not a die hard hockey fan ,watches the show ,but really believe she has a crush on Evan.

    "GO WINGS"

  15. I'd much prefer them going back to the West to having to deal with Habs and Bruin fans this much.

  16. Re: Salary Cap. If the Cap is going to balloon way up then maybe it's way past time for the owners to revisit how they share revenue between teams to get a little closer to the NFL model.

  17. Cap raise idea. When it hits 113.5M in couple years how about giving raise of 10% to five that are now under contract? Core 3 plus one year of Compher and Rasmussen. Costs circa 3M for one year and 2.5M per for four seasons. That is just little over 2% of then cap. Then core 3 should be happy and not heavily underpaid despite being only about 3th-5th best paid players. Depending on Edvinsson cost and do we add two or three stars.

  18. I would love an episode about what our trade options are. I think Zetterlund on the Sharks would be a good one. He's an expiring RFA, is producing well especially at even strength, age fits the timeline etc. Should get a discount too considering that Yzerman gave them Walman and a 2nd round pick for free

  19. The first octopus in Calgary was a sabotage. The Flames iced it and they got a commercial break while the rink staff cleaned it up. Stupid thing for a fan to do with a one goal lead late in the game.

  20. When Shine got his first NHL assist, I jumped out of my seat and yelled "Shine on, you crazy diamond!".I like his energy, and like what I've seen of the guy so far. I really hope we can find a place for him, because he earned this.

  21. Of course bring them up when they're ready. Once again captain obvious. Issue is the definition of when they're ready. RW wait longer than most other orgs.

  22. I put my Winged Wheel Podcast Mickey Redmond style flannel on at the end of the first period against Edmonton. Didn't take it off the rest of the game
