Canucks will regret this trade. They had a 100+ point player and a proven playoff performer for 8 million a season.
That is one of the best value contracts in the league.
I like how ZIbanejad quickly dismantled the "intense" narrative about Miller. He just said he communicates well and a lot. This isn't going to be the same JT Miller. He's going to take what he learned in Vancouver and improve.
a lot vancouverites just want both of these prima donas out of town. if we have to take a step or 2 back, so be it. miller obviously tanked his game to press ruthervin to move him. who wants a prick like that on your team? pettersson is a 16 year old PS5 juvenile who's birth certificate says that he's 26 and he is unreachable, un coachable and thin skinned. ruthervin has publicly called him out and he will react like he did with miller. needs a fresh start.
The problem with Miller, when he's off and grumpy… he's really off and lazy. No back checking. And he starts yelling at everyone else, when he himself is the one stinking it up. I can totally see why teams and players dislike him over time.
The trade made Vancouver younger, faster and cheaper. They now have a tonne of cap space. Let’s see what that turns into. That has to be factored into the evaluation of the trade as well.
Chytil can learn from the best. Manny Malhotra
First off I was a big fan of JT with the highs, high but the lows are low and they were really low this year. Chytil brought an element that has been missing and the team looked cohesive, relaxed and fast with the additions.
Will miss last year's JT but he was downright horrible many nights and there was a massive cloud over this team.
Again fan of JT but there's a reason he was traded and according to our GM it ran a lot deeper than EP40
Chytil wasn't given the role that he will get here and he looked great in game 1 and his speed was a breath of fresh air. Adding M3PETEY, Mancini and O'Connor while dumping two bad contracts .
What a fucked up misplaced narrative. You don't score 437 in 404 games over 6 seasons by being inconsistent. Miller had been the most consistent forward for the Canucks for the better part of half a decade. When he gets fed up, he explodes. I'd rather try and contain THAT rather than pry an ounce of testosterone from a guy unable or unwilling to go to war.
The Canucks actually did well, younger faster and more cap space. Our D was so bad before too, Tyler Myers is playing incredibly well but hes being asked to do way too much if we want to be successful. Soucy is playing terribly and I think D-Petey might be in over him with how hes playing. Maybe he goes to the right side and Mancini stays in the AHL for a year.
Nucks dcorps especially now with Marcus along with D-Petey and Willander coming is easily a strength.
We did not look shaky at all and let's be honest, we have the worst save % 5on5 since November largely on the shoulders of Silovs and Demko but our D gives up very few shots and chances despite Soucy, Juulson and Deharnais being unplayable.
Tyler Myers has literally played like a #3 since Foote and Gonchar arrived and has somehow elevated his game to the point Hronek is able to run his own pair. Forbort has been excellent and D-Petey has been a stud in Abby and carried that over so far.
With all the new faces our three worst dmen have all been replaced and even without Quinn that group dominated a very good offensive team in the wings who were coming in 13-4 .
Quinn- Myers
Marcus – Hronek
D-Petey – Forbort
Is a very strong group with Willander, Kudriatzev, Mynio and Mancini in the wings it's even brighter. Willander is gonna be an absolute stud #2
even though they lost, the last game was the best the canucks have looked all year. and they didn't even have hughes. i'm pretty optimistic, especially considering they will likely make more moves. i just really hope chytil doesn't lose his speed and puck handling skills under tocchet's boring dump and chase system.
Also when Raty comes up as either 2nd or 3rd line center. He's going to be a very serviceable player.
Canucks fan here. I think that the Rangers got better in the short term but the Canucks will be better off in the long run.
Quinn Hughes leads by example but he was put into an impossible position as a captain by Miller and the mercurial EP40. Miller was great as a Canuck but unfortunately did not live up to the "A" on his jersey as he did not bring the best out of his teammates.
All we need is a 3rd line center and we’re set to miss the playoffs for the next 10 years😂😂😂
Only winner is JT in this situation. Long term contract until retirement, no NMC, playing in his #1 city of choice. All he had to do was sit out a few games. Great if Rangers win a cup, but JT is a ticking timebomb on any team he's been on. Losing, he will turn locker room toxic.
I hope NY can look past his performance here in Vancouver the past couple of months. It wasn't clicking here with the direction he wanted to go with the leadership core. Honestly we are left with uncertainty with Petterson and how he will perform which is stressful for us fans of the Canucks. JT maybe old-school, but his heart is in the right place and that's what led to his departure. You guys got an Allstar player in your hands and I suggest that you all enjoy the ride while you can. If I wanted a player to be behind my back, it would be JT Miller. You have at least a good 3 to 4 years with the guy.
Miller's production is beyond solid and he has always been on very cheap deals. Yet he keeps bouncing around. Polarizing locker room presence who, when he makes up his mind about something, digs in and lets his emotions impact his game on ice and the team around him. Buyer beware.
The Miller v Petey feud was felt across the province. This change NEEDED to happen. I hope the team can play up to their potential now.
Chytal is 1 hit in the head from a career ending injury, very fragile
Canucks now have a really good deffence prospect pool after getting mancini includes him, elias pettersson, tom willander and kudryatsev
Chytil was the most skilled forward on the rangers beside breadman he has all the potential in the world good luck
JT scored TWICE in his Ranger re-debut game vs Boston.
This guy has no clue about winning faceoffs. Tell McDavid its just practice…
Jt Miller got 2 goals and now 2 assist in 2 games
Adam should've got JT and Petey on the phone together!
Chytil learned a lot about faceoffs this season from Michael Peca and playing with Trocheck his numbers have only been improving
I covered Mancini in college when he played at Omaha. He's a great guy on and off the ice. Love that he's getting talked about in this trade and not just looked over.
Miller for Rantanen would’ve been better. Or Miller for Necas and a pick, then send the pick for Marcus Pettersson to get better defence.
Great analysis guys
Based on the trade I think leafs lose in the first round
Faceoff are not like defense Adam…
Miller is finally a true tier 1 power forward that we are missing. Is he ideal? No but its whats available right now. I would have preferred Raantanan. THe entire is excited and have increased speed in tempo in the last 3 games.
As much as I loved Kakko and Chytl, JTM is an upgrade for the Rangers. Wishes best for both of them. However, they were non-factors during the last two playoffs.
JT Miller brings in something they desperately need, sandpaper and intesity, like Tkachuk brought to Pathers. Had we had JTM, I think, we could have won against TBL and the Panthers.
Miller's contract is not bad .. think of 25 goals 70 poin6s .. in 5 years in decline …not bad . He is a competitor, like Ovi . It should age well .
If Mancinni turns into a regular , with all the pieces the Canucks will come out ok .
A few games later and this trade may go down as one of the best move for the org. W move by canucks
Realistically can the Rangers really climb out of the hole they are in- even with about 30 games left. It's looking very very grim even with Miller added.
Were going to get into it later. Last statement of video – once sentence – Marcus Pettersson. Pretty deep guys!
Canucks Fan. without JT and QH last night, our PP was an absolute shambles. still won 3-zip against a great team but that was probably a fluke.
