  1. Guys you gotta let the petterson thing breathe a little let’s see how this turns out in a week or two when you get out of an abusive relationship you need time to heal mentally

  2. Yannick is the best!
Always loved how hard he worked. He wasn’t the most skilled guy but he always gave his all.

  3. Jannik has incredible analytical skills. I have enjoyed listening to him these past few years. He has proven himself very trustworthy. Thank you for brining him on.

  4. I don't think Taylor is blowing smoke when he says Hansen is good at this. In fact for a guy not of Taylor's generation he sees the game much the same way as old school guys. I wish he was a regular. And considering Kesler used to make fun of Hansen it's fun that the guy with the high pitched voice turned out way better than Kesler as an analyst. More power to him!

  5. I've been feeling that Miller gave the Canucks an edge they'd been missing with this core. Take it one step further and I think EP40 was able to achieve the things he did because of playing with and around Miller. Some of his best production was while on a line with Miller. It puts the contract extension given him last year in realm of unwise.
They had to move Miller sadly and I'm ok with that. But even with the pieces they've acquired they now have a massive challenge. How do you get EP40 to be a point producer again. I hope I'm wrong but, I don't think the answer is in Vancouver ATM.
Unlikely to come at the deadline. Maybe on the draft floor? Most likely in free agency. Fortunately for everyone here I'm most likely wrong and He will score four in next game and regain the form we are all missing. Otherwise more gambles on on free agency to get someone you hope can help Petey.

  6. I thought EP40 played a solid game last night. You say he wasn't playing 'dangerous' like MacKinnon or Makar, but perhaps he was playing smart and unselfish. Like on the Canucks first goal he provided a partial screen and an opening for Jake DeBrusk to score. Pettersson could have tried to be 'dangerous'(and earn that 11.6 million damn it), but he and DeBrusk would have both interfered with each other's shot attempt. Now I'm still hoping that Elias Pettersson's offensive production will improve, but give him the credit he deserves.

  7. I don't understand why Jannik thinks trading Miller is bad. We got rid of someone who mentally checked out. If this is last season's Miller, yes, we should not trade him. With Miller, it's all about emotion that drives him to play at the highest level possible. He just wasn't there this season and it casted dark clouds around the team and leading to conflicts.

The team for the first time this season played a complete defensive game against the Avs. M. Petey and with the rise of D-Petey, we can actually dial down Hughes' minutes. This team was never going to outgun teams like Oilers or Avs with or without 100 point Miller and even if Petey re-gains his skating speed/strength and offensive creativity, we were not going to run and gun against McDavi, Draisaitl, Mac. Building a strong defence made the team better.

And Chytil and O'Connor were surprisingly good. I mean, Chytil looks like a top 6 forward to me. He has a lot of speed and skill.

This trade is a huge win for us.

  8. Jannik seems to be on the outside looking in. "Locker room issues" and "all those things" didn't result in Miller being traded. Let's be real. Miller wasn't able to control his anger and emotional response to the point where his defensive side of the game suffered. He would "give up" while on the ice. Slow to change. Eye rolls, slumped shoulders, coasting back to the bench while the other team was on the rush because of one of his turnovers. Yelling uncontrollably at team-mates and causing rifts with everyone including the coach. "All those things" that would be extremely frustrating for the coach. Miller didn't seem to be able to manage his emotions. It's great to want to win, to hate to lose, to use that testosterone energy to fight for the team – but when you get a bad bounce, or a team-mate isn't able to capitalize due to the vagaries of the game, you can't become so emotionally unhinged that your own ability to contribute falters, or you lash out at your teammates in anger. It's poison. I appreciate that he was in counselling. I know that he "tried", but he's had these issues for years and sometimes his coach and team-mates simply can't continue to suffer his inability to control himself. Doesn't matter how many team dinners he hosts at his house, or how many times he apologizes for his inappropriate behaviour – there comes a point when it's best to have him move on and wish him well. I hope that his return to the Rangers is part of the solution for him and that he finds a place where he can learn to be a net contibutor. He's a great hockey player. Bemoaning the "loss of JT" is a superficial analysis of what occurred. I understand that not all hockey players are the sharpest knives in the drawer, and I put my trust in this management group to know when it's time to part ways. Loved Jannick as a player, but as an analyst he needs to dig deeper – if he can.

  9. Jannik is one of the most insightful, no holds barred and well spoken guests you guys bring on.. Him having played many years year here gives him that much more credibility.

  10. Jannik Stars have two very good players in AHL. GM must look for one or two guys. Ryty could step in. Lind should be back with us.

  11. What shows me you care is that you back check and block shots.

Screaming "f$@#" and slamming your stick against the boards after not back checking and gliding to the bench doesn't show me you care it shows my you are selfish and just mad that YOU didn't score while not giving a damn about the team.

  12. Jannik!! R/Canucks voted him most loved average Canuck!
