I have been a life-long Sabres fan since I was a kid in their inaugural 1970-71 season. So it PAINS me to have to say this …
1. TALK IS CHEAP, and WE NO LONGER BELIEVE YOUR WORDS.
2. "We're moving in the "right direction" IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH !!!!! "Moving in the right direction" is what was supposed to have been happening since Day 1 of the pre-season … not delayed until early February when the season is 2/3 complete !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
3. "It will never happen again" [i.e., failing to defend a teammate and allowing the thug team/cheap shot artist to punk your star player with impunity] is also NOT GOOD ENOUGH, either !!!!!!!!!!!! It should have never happened even once — especially since this team already has a HISTORY of gutless softness — and talking about it with platitudes along the lines of "it won't happen again" only makes fans angrier. You SHOULD be "falling on your sword" openly criticizing yourselves to your fans, admitting that you were gutless … that's the only honest way we can know that you might "finally get it." But instead you keep making EMPTY promises and CONTINUE to AVOID ACCEPTING "REAL" ACCOUNTABILITY by admitting the previous hard truth (instead you keep spewing meaningless feeble "justification" attempts such as "I didn't see it," "Our revenge was winning the game" — pure BULLSH!T you're trying to convince yourselves with. NOT only did you NOT SCORE after the dirty hit on TNT to make it more likely you would win, you actually gave up ANOTHER goal to barely escape with a win 4-3 (despite once being up 3-0 and 4-1, and being ahead 4-2 at the time of the dirty hit on TNT) … in reality, your "response" was to DO NOTHING TO ADVANCE winning the game and actually to ALMOSE LOSE IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
4. If you want the fans to believe in you again, the ONLY way that will happen is if you DEMONSTRATE, THROUGH YOUR ACTIONS, that you are WORTHY of our belief. No more "free passes."
Adams if you do ONE THING before you are FIRED at seasons end, please please sign Jason Zucker to a two year extension!
