If that was the first time OEL did this exact thing, taking a stupid penalty for no reason deep in the third, then maybe you could call it an off night, but it's the second time its cost them a game and he's been taking stupid penalties in general a lot lately. Something is definitely wrong with Matthews this year. All his stats are down, especially shooting percentage. But also clutch plays (only one GWG this year compared to 8-12 the last few seasons). My guess is he's got a nagging wrist/arm or shoulder injury that is messing with his shot.

I was at this game, it was really lame. The refs were missing calls against Toronto and Vancouver. The score was not high, the goal tending on the leafs side was mid. And the players were not trying.
Maybe babbling Blowen could put on the stripes & the Leafs would be on PP the whole game.
