@Kraken de Seattle

  1. Buddy had time to walk around the whole rink and think it over. If you see the footage starting a couple minutes earlier, he's clearly visible at the glass near center on the other side of the ice.

And the footage shows the incident didn't happen as he describes. His kid (presumably) was involved in a fight. But it was a pretty typical 2 sidwd shovey, then slashy, the flailing arms that was pretty quickly broken up by the refs. The whole thing lasts maybe 10-15 sec. The refs are back at the box conferring on what the penalties will be, after talking to the coaches, when this footage starts. It was long long over.

  2. As a former player, some parents have always been this way. It's sick what youth sports has become. And you know what? The vast majority of kids drop out before high school.

  3. The response from the kids was perfect. Three go for the parent (two from one team and one from the other) and another goes for the injured ref.

  4. Sad to say, but the kids of these jerkoffs parents should be suspended from playing also.. I know it's not their fault but it should make these parents wake-up..

  5. Grew up playing and coached my sons team against that side of the state, and those parents have always been the absolute worst in Washington. We were at state a few years ago, and one of our kids got plowed from behind head first into the boards and they were literally laughing and making fun of the kid when he couldn't get up.

  6. 89.6K …. you are getting there!
I can't wait for you to reach your goal!
Thank you for taking the time to create and share Hockey content with us.
    Cheers!

  7. I had to yell at some parents a few years ago because they were delaying the kids’ baseball game on technicalities. It was night and cold as hell, and the kids were shivering their butts off on the field. Not even my kids playing, just my cousin’s son and I’m having to be the one lay down the law because the parents are dragging out the damn game. Fucking ridiculous how these parents act.

  8. The world's gone nuts.

Not to mention, as you said, these are 12 year olds. WTF are you teaching them by doing this?

  9. This is a person who snapped… and not realizing his targets are kids…. I hope that the kid that was pushed onto the ice wasn't hurt… now he has to go thru life being a victim of violence…. I sure hope that this instance will be made as an example, if it's hard for you to watch the game and not get angry, then go sit in your vehicle, turn on some music, and go to sleep….

  10. Not only are they setting a terrible example example for the kids, they’re literally the reason for what they’re btching about. Kids don’t wanna become refs because of crap like this. This is leading to ref shortages where there may only be 1 or 2 refs trying to do the jobs of 3-4 refs. It’s just absurd that people act this way and I hope parents get a grip. It’s just a game, this isn’t game 7 of the cup finals, your kid isn’t Wayne Gretzky. Kids are quitting hockey because of stupid parents like this. It’s brutal. There’s no place in our game for this.

  11. I’d love to see this rancid fool get a full year in jail, but it won’t happen. He’ll get a manageable fine and a judge saying something like, “We have laws for a reason, sir. Stay out of trouble.”

  12. Loser parents who failed at their sports careers, trying to live vicariously through their kids.

  13. Kicked that is funny. I think someone is making it up. What would happen if you kicked someone while wearing skates? You do know they have blades and are sharp. His son would have been hospitalized or someone here knows very little about hockey. And for thirty seconds. Basically attempted murder. I will say this though there are very few people who ref games. And sometimes there are homers. Which is bad but you have to live with the bad calls. Even those kids are learning. I used to get vocal years ago but another hockey parent explained the learning process for young refs like players only a few advance. So basically you have to give them a break. And I have seen some really badly reffed games. What was expressed to me was to not make them want to quit because there are only a few who actually want to do this. I once reffed a beer league shinny game and it turned into a brawl. It is a tough job. I missed two calls and the other team thought I was a homer. If I did not see it I can't call it. They had to call the game. I felt bad because I failed pretty miserably.

  14. Just like the beer league videos, this stuff only happens on the Westcoast: Cali and Seattle. It's far too common to see this and baseball swings at heads, and players kicked, or ran from behind.. and then you see the board ads that show its all in Cali. That doesn't happen in the Midwest.

  15. I think when I was 11 I was doing a 3 on 3 tournament. Coach of like u8 came over and blew up on me during a silly 3 on 3 tournament lol

  16. I wanna see what was supposedly happening to his kid. It also seems weird to have refs that are only a year older than the players. Unless this isn't his first offense he wont get jail time which would be overkill. Probably a fine and community service.

  17. You just know that these parents are putting so much pressure on their kids, telling them they have to become a pro-athlete, thinking that they will get some of the money their kids would earn. That's why they take it so dead-serious.

  18. I think I’ve kicked out more parents from rinks then kids while reffing minor hockey this season it’s insane the way parents act these days

  19. Crazy parents are why I stopped coaching. A lot of projection among that group.

  20. It's ALWAYS the parents.

I worked at a batting cage part-time when I was playing baseball. I use to ready myself for an argument every time the girls fast pitch hitters came in. It was ALWAYS their dad's who were the worst to deal with. All balls, no brains. It often resulted with several of the girls bawling their eyes out while their dad's felt it was appropriate to yell at them or fight with another parent.

  21. That prick needs to go to jail ….. I hope he reads this , jail would be a life lesson for him , although he is too thick to probably learn much

  22. Mid 50s man from province of Quebec here. I've played junior hockey for 10 years in the 70s and the 80s and have never seen anything like this. Yes refs would get booed from time to time, but everyone understood they were not professionals. I don't understand this generation of parents at all.

  23. Only major problem I see relating to hockey is that its a very dedicated sport including time and equiptment invested. That alone can be too much for some parents when it comes to the sport itself. Not making excuses for them, just a means of understanding their actions. Stricter guidelines should be implemented to avoid such results as this.

  24. I used to ref when I was younger and I've paused multiple games because some parent (and one coach) couldn't behave. "The game is on pause until X leaves the area" I didn't start doing that until I was 15-16 though.

  25. Parents are not going to aloud in the actual stands I think they should watch from another room. Via t v. It’s to unsafe

  26. This behaviour and other behaviour in kids' sports in general and this epidemic which has been poorly handled is why I trust band / orchestra / choir / dance / performing arts parents more than sports parents to behave when the chips are down and it's their kid. This shouldn't be happening anywhere FULL STOP!
