My the notorious playoff series against the wild, todd bertuzzi "why u buying tickets, its not coming back here" to wild fans. Wild proceed to win the series. That was such an exciting series as a wild fan. Its all we really got other than a team again. But i do believe the wild will have their most exciting season next yr starting with free agency. Idk what the canucks have in store the rest of this season. Theyve made quite a few moves recently i think its a retool on the fly but i really dont know.

Hindsight is 20:20 but they really should've started rebuilding the moment they traded Schneider for Horvat. It made no sense to keep contending after that given that the Hawks/Kings were the top contenders of the West. The core was aging who came off back to back 1st round exits – with a combined 1-8 record in those two exits (close to being back to back sweeps). They weren't going to re-capture that magic again barring a miracle. They waited too long and they paid the price for it.
I feel that the absent rebuild (it was basically a rushed retool) of that Canucks squad is the direct reason why the Canucks are still in a bind today. They seem to be going up, going down, without any sort of direction as to where they're going. Are they contending? Rebuilding? It's a directionless team that's going nowhere. What makes it worse is now they're stuck with Pettersson who has an albatross of a contract as of right now. Perhaps he re-captures that magic, but for now it's looking like an overpayment.
