  1. Only in the bizzaro woke world of today could getting second to last place be considered "epic" or "a success". I'm sure it was a great moment for her, but it didn't do anything to break any barriers or prove anything.

  2. That fastest skater drill performance was a real eye-opener, to be sure. It was WAY more of a blow for women's equality in sports than Bill Jean King beating old Bobby Riggs. But let's not over-state things. Women's hockey in general is nowhere near the professional level. The Canadian National women's team practices by playing games against local 17-year-old boys teams, using women's hockey rules. The games tend to be pretty close. Canada probably has thousands of beer-league men's teams that could beat the women's Olympic champions.

  3. Women's hockey IMHO is one of those few team sports where women are just as exciting to watch as the men. Soccer being the other.

  4. She's lightning fast, I'll giver her that. Her commentating was absolutely horrendous, she would literally speak and forget what she was saying and just stop talking mid sentence haha.

  5. Great story and great for hockey. Need to point out that being American helped bring this to the spotlight. The Canadian women's team has won many more Olympic tournaments as well as having the first and only women to play full-time professional hockey against men in Manon Rhéaume (NHL) and Hayley Wickenheiser (Finland).

  6. Kobe's daughter was going to do so much for women in sports. I thought of KCS and what her impact has meant… It hurts so much.

  7. I thought there has been couple female goalies who did get to play in IHL/AHL back in the 90s? I remember reading articles about them in the old- short lived: Women's Sport Illustrated.

  8. i dont understand, why all the NHL Teams do not have women teams. I mean they dont need to earn the same money as the NHL Stars but come on, give the girls the same oppertunity to play the game they love.

  9. With so much cringy forced "woke" nonsense nowadays I just wanted to take the time to compliment everybody involved in this video for doing a fantastic job. THIS is actual diversity: earned.

What an American! I think I'm gonna pick up a KCS sweater.

  10. As a former hockey player who has an 18 year old daughter who loves this sport and plays this sport, this video brought tears to my eyes as I watched Kendall compete in the fastest skater competition.

  11. Dammit! I'm a Bruins fan. I can't root for the Hawks right? Wrong! This is an awesome piece. For all concerned, for HOCKEY! This is how our favorite sport GROWS!

  12. It's a sad reality that the only reason women aren't playing in the NHL, is the size. Women are fully capable of hitting, undressing goalies and pushing end to end. But, the size difference makes it a danger. IF and I mean IF, they could hit that 180-200lbs without compromising speed or finesse then the only thing stopping them is front of house offering contracts.

  13. When I watch sports, I never thought about their gender or race. I see skills and support them to be great as they are. Most people who are sport lovers believes that way. There was times when most kids thought some popular athletes were from their own Country eventhough they didn't looked like them. Why are we growing up making about that? Safe and sound to this gifted athlete.

  14. A guy on the hawks beat her, not saying that to be all like “ShE Is NoT gOoD bEcAuSe OnE gUy BeAt HeR” I watched it it was at a stem activity it was just a fun fact, but it was barely by like almost less than a second like 1.1

  15. I went to school with her in middle school. Glad to see shes doing alright. Kendall if you see this some how remember Palos South you and I were good friends.

  16. This video was one of the most beautiful things I've seen… so inspiring for anyone who has seen it… regardless of gender, age, orientation… it transcends all of these things and just shows the beauty, the awe, the competitive spirit, the generosity of human beings who pay it forward and pave the way for others.. Thanks to all the companies, communities, groups, and individuals who made this happen!

  17. What can be done to make playing hockey accessible to everyone? Most American families can't afford to have their sons or daughters play the game. It's a shame.

  18. Hockey is hockey. If you can play, you can play. Never limit yourself just because somebody doesn't think you can do it. As I heard from a friend of mine, even if you think you have given 100% you really have an extra 20 to 40% to give. Women have so much more to offer this sport and its a shame that this world still hasn't caught up.

  19. Kendall is a hero. She deserves the pedestal those who look up to her have her on. Fantastic story. So glad it's unfinished and, frankly, considering the legacy she's building, it will hopefully remain unfinished and instead expand, transcend, and attain the greatness she simply has inside her, as big as it is.

  20. I did security for NBC the Wednesday after her all star appearance, the only thing that made that day easy was Kendall being such a laugh Pens v Tampa and all we did was laugh with and at each other. She's so humble and sweet it's almost unbelievable.

  21. I wonder if it’s time for a professional league/ semi professional league for women. I mean they have a league with soccer. I am an Australian so ice hockey isn’t really a big sport here, so I am assuming they ma y have enough women , girls wanting to play more than at a school / amateur level.

  22. They started a women's professional basketball league, so why not a hockey league? You never know………..

  23. Great video! Glad the sport has grown for girls ( for their own teams) I am going to play devils advocate here. My complaint No reason to cry and quit trying to play the sexism card though ….My self and many other boys wanted to play hockey but parents could not afford it . Imagine if if the NFL's JJ WATT could have continued his hockey career. We were told to do something else maybe baseball na..ick BORING !, football na… I'm too small ! soccer na ..zzzz! It is the men who are growing this sport. Hockey in the US has always been the least popular of the top four sports. It would surface here and there. The miracle on ice helped, Gretzky being traded to LA helped. The NHL men are the ones still trying to grow this sport teams fold, move, lock -outs, strikes.
I refused to do any other sport. I have seen this happen to kids in the inner city with other sports, not being able to fill a roster because it's a bad neighborhood, so you then have to travel really far to fill a roster. There is a boy crisis now no fathers.. so Boys need to be with other boys, males have a high suicide rate, dropping out of school, not going onto college, and other problems that women don't have. Boys are being told from a young age now "your no good"… "you are toxic" If it was not for Toxic masculinity sports like skiing, skating, mountain climbing, fast cars, planes, skydiving etc. would not have been discovered / invented. It's males desire for danger that is why men take on dangerous jobs. and more likely to die on the job than a woman. Just remember if you play hockey you are lucky to afford it!

  24. My son played PeeWee with girls. Changed with girls, No reason that it can’t happen….anything

  25. And now she’s a champion, even using that same speed to bury an empty netter.
