If the Leafs ask for Byfield. I don't think there's a scenario were Knies doest go the other way. Who else could the Leafs send? LA isn't rebuilding, so they'd want an NHL player. There's no one else. Players like Robertson, doesn't get this trade done.
Quinton has just gotten hot. Why would they deal him now.? What would they have to get back. I can see the leafs being interested in now.
Quinton Byfield is better than Matthew Knies right now. Knies is having his best season 21 goals 37 points Byfield heated up at the end last year and had 20 goals 55 points. he's heating up now and has 34 points to Knies 37.
They wouldn't accept knies for Byfield.
I much rather keep Knies and trade for a hidden gem like the Bolts did when they traded for Paul out of Ottawa.

Knies is not better. Byfield was a #2 pick overall. Typical Toronto people who don’t watch the west have no idea. I like knies but he is not enough to get Byfield. Also the Leafs are likely not able to match what other teams will put up for this guy, he is a future #1 C.
Finally Darius youre back making sense again.! Theres absolutely ZERO chance the Kings trade Byfeild.. Theres just no way. They need a guy like that Kopitar is getting older. And theyre in a playoff spot as of now… If anything theyre going to want to move their picks which they have a 1st they also have Alex Turcotte.they also have some very good looking prospects. Theres zero need to pull a guy like Byfeild off their team when they have lots of cap room, and could also move on from a guy like Jennault whos a UFA he could easily go back the other way to a team like anaheim as a cap dump for a guy like Zegras or Strome etc . unless theyre getting back a top player like a Rantanen. Kyper should stop doing these stupid rumors. If anything it will be Turcotte and a 1st move

That could easily pick you up a guy like Brock Nelson, Rackell , Boeser or Schenn. I would expect Kings to get both a depth defenceman and an offensive guy like Nelson.
The most the leafs could offer is Domi and Robertson.
Trading Knies is a fireable offence
I think were gunna see a really selfless move by Tavares this offseason. Hes older hes made his money and he wants to stay in Toronto. I expect to see an Ohtani type contrac6t from Tavares where his Salary comes in around 2M then another 3 or 4 mil a season will be defferred. Keeping Tavares cap hit low.

Moving for Quentin Byfield for John Tavares or another young piece would be a steal. I always thought Byfield would be a leaf but I thought it would have been for Matthews.

Matthew knies compared to Quinton Byfield….please Byfield any day of the week, let's be serious second overall pick and look at the guy size originally from the new market area Ontario. He's hardly a stud. His 6.25m is too iffy. Leafs can sign a UFA next season for that money and not give up any assets.
