  1. I've been a Pettersson fan since he broke into the league. I even got a jersey with his name on it. But ever since the All Star Break last season, he hasn't been the same player. At this point, I'm done defending him. Based on his 100+ point season, he earned that contract, but now he has to keep earning it and that means being at least a 90 point player for almost the entire duration of the contract. At least Mitch Marner numbers. The way I look at it, the team should just tell us as fans that he's playing with tendonitis, which as a former competitive swimmer I know can really be an issue, or figure it out. I know he's frustrated, but when I found out that he wasn't getting along with the Sedins, some of the classiest, hardest working guys to ever play in Vancouver for their style, he completely lost me. If you can't get along with the Sedins, you've got issues. I was frustrated with my situation, but I didn't let it affect how I treated my teammates or my work ethic in the pool.

  2. I have NEVER had faith in this guy. He refuses to work on his strength and has been knocked over by light breezes the entire time he's been in the league. I wanted him traded last year at the TDL cause I wasn't a believer then either. People don't realize that while Petey was producing Miller was taking all the hard defensive matchups to protect Petey. Miller is gone and now he doesn't have that protection.

  3. I don’t know why it’s taking management so long to get rid of this guy besides maybe no other team wants him. It’s like if you were a CEO of a company and a new guy came in and landed you a great deal and profit but for the last 1 and a half years has been making you lose terrible amounts of money. Would you keep him on the payroll and just say. “Well he did a good job a year and a half ago” No! I’d fire his ass.

  4. He's got an attitude problem and unwilling to hold himself accountable. He blames everyone else and makes excuses for his poor play. It is embarrassing.

  5. he is one of the worst 12 million dollar players in NHL history . no just defensive play doesnt get u 12 million salary.

  6. It’s been awhile since EP40 consistently put up points in non-preseason play. Just this month, Habs’:
    – centre Nick Suzuki has put up nine points, three of them goals, over eight games with a +1
    – winger Juraj Slavkovský, over his last 22 games from January, has scored just one less goal (6) than over the same number of games, including 4 Nations ones, EP40 has put up points (7)

The combined cap hits for this season for Suzuki and Slafkovský don’t even come to US$10 million while next season neither Hab will have a cap hit of even US$8 million. Of forwards, d-men and goalies with per-season cap hits (PSCHs) at least as high as EP40’s US$11.6 million currently playing for Canadian NHL teams, I count those of:
    – Leafs’ centre AM34’s US$13.25 million
    – Oilers’ centre Connor McDavid’s US$12.5 million although effective July one can add the US$14 million one of Leon Draisaitl

AM34, McDavid and Draisaitl, in regular-season play, have been this season more consistent point producers than EP40 although plenty of players whose PSCHs are even lower than EP40’s also have been more consistent point producers. I don’t even know the last time I had faith EP40 could consistently put up the points although there’s no doubt that his dropoff began, in non-preseason play, last April and shows no sign of ending.

  7. I think he will rebound, but that wont happen until next season. That is if he has knee problems and maybe other issues. Yes he skates strange but he was still skating fast before, now its like the wheels have fallen off

  8. there are a few guys in the league that i like, but would be much better off playing in Europe's top leagues. Pettersson is one, Laine is another. they would be on top, and much happier IMO.

  9. Sigh… three Calder Trophy nominees in a row with one of them winning and Thatcher Demko and with the exception of Quinn Hughes, we could lose all of them by this summer.

Boeser, Pettersson, Hughes, Demko. They could have been out Bossy, Trottier, Potvin and Smith.

  10. he's a fuckin fraud… never liked this fake ass player… DOESNT BELONG IN THE NHL… SORRY IVE NEVER SEEN A PLAYER LIKE HIM FALL DOWN SOO MUCH… MAYBE $11.6 MILL SHE PLAY IN PWHL…. 🤡🤡🤡 UR TRASH $11.6 MILL AND AN EMBARSSMENT…

  11. EP40 is a flash in the pan! Move him ASAP and start to rebuild around Hughes if he's even willing to stay. Please

  12. At what point do you start to question Tocchet? He has a been gifted with an abundance of talent and what has he done with it? I think he's as overrated as EP40.

  13. Being a canucks fan is a nightmare. After years of shitty teams and nothing, so close in 2011 We FINALLY get quinn hughes a superstar, great management and a solid coah. But of course it falls apart just as its getting sweet. This guy let down this entire city with this horrible contract. Everything has fallen apart after he signed and disappeared.

  14. OK fine…EP40's performance has cratered. The bigger question is WHY? It's obviously not as simple as having discord with a teammate. And it is obviously not an injury (can you say 4 Nations). So…WHY? Given that this team decapitated itself (apparently) for Petey, WHY aren't there more answers as to what caused all of this…especially since it's been simmering for at least a year and likely more? This is the most over-reported, yet under-investigated storyline in the NHL. C'mon Press/Media…start doing the digging and asking the tough questions!!

In the meantime I will speculate…
Petey has a video game addiction. Or maybe…
Petey has a trans-lover who is blackmailing him. Or maybe…
Petey is being coerced by the Swedish mafia to fix games. Or maybe….
Petey is a snowflake that can't recover from being held accountable. Or maybe…
Petey has a deeply personal family issue that is weighing him down. Or maybe…
Petey has a mental illness. Or maybe…
    Petey a REALLY an alien!

An entire professional NHL team blew itself up for this man. I think it's fans deserve some answers.

  15. Lankinen is so underrated, I believe he can compete with the best goalies, he showed it just recently internationally.

  16. Peterson needs a reset. I wouldn’t bet on him being much this season. Next year… if he doesn’t find his mojo, he’s gonna be traded for a bag of pucks. He’s overpaid and handcuffing this team. Too much of a liability.

  17. Canucks never learn from their mistakes. They overpaid for Pettersson and Miller. And when they got rid of Miller’s huge contract, what did they do? They overpaid for Lankinen. Canucks don’t do themselves any favors

  18. Pettersson acting like the expectations of a real world contract don't apply to him.

  19. Petterson is a terrible skater, he glides around and actually snowplows to stop like a 5 year old. Over half his faceoffs end in him falling down and opposing players know it takes one cross check from behind he goes down 😢

  20. Trade him him to a nice city in the US and he will explode. Media just talking about everyday since mars last year. I would have gave up and moved on. Boeser not scoring as well. Is anyone playing good. Tocchet is a defensive coach. EP40 is a great defenseman. real good.

  21. Give him until half of next year and if he still isn't performing then just bench him and never let him play another game until he chooses to cancel his contract, regardless of how long it takes. Canucks shouldn't buy him out when he's done nothing to deserve almost 100 million dollars. Going forth from here the Canucks should really learn from their mistake and have increasing earnings if the players hit certain thresholds, if that's even possible. It's disgusting to think that pettersson 'The Unseen' is making almost 12 million when Conor 'The Gremlin' Garlard has more goals than him and just one point behind him.

  22. Pettersson needs to go down from the lineup and work in the gym and do rehab on his knee or whatever it is affecting his play. Not to mention he needs to see a professional mentality coach.
