No Leon, no playoffs. Best player on the team, best player in the league. Stick with Evander. Period. He returns in the playoffs. I'll take my chances on well he is when the playoffs begin. Why trade him for cap space? Will cap space play a better left wing than he does? He's a better player than anyone on the bottom six. A week to go before the deadline. Not much time to work with. Management causing their own problems again. Why isn't it all figured out by now? With such a short time period to work with does anyone believe that other teams are going to offer equal value for him? I don't believe that. Offer sheets! There ya' go. That'll get it done. You'll get a fourth-round pick in return. We had a week to decide then and a week to decide now. Ken Holland showed faith in Evander and signed him when no one else would. It worked out well. A hug or a pat on the back is better than putting your foot up someone's ass. So, what has he done this time except get injured and have to miss the year?? Anyhow, what is Evander saying? Why this wishy-washy garbage? Who's in charge anyhow? 20 games to go. Evander, you're a huge part of this team. We need you to get healthy and come back for the playoffs. We can use your LTIR money to add a player or two that will make us just that much better. Would he say no to having an even better chance at winning the Cup? I don't trust this management team. If Kane is not staying with the oilers then you need a replacement. Too many small forwards without grit.
Picard outplayed the mistakes and had some rare puck luck. 2 points out of a possible 10 and heading home . Lots of work to do to get back on track.
Giving it more thought, I think the Oilers are going to trade Kane. Why have they waited so long to say anything? Why all the weasel talk? Because then they can blame Kane by saying there was nothing they could do because he refused to wait to make his return until the playoffs. This is just so the fans don't get too pissed off about it. It's called public relations. Problem solved if Evander would come right out and say what he wants to do.
I would love to have Kane in the playoffs. An injured Kane is better than are whole bottom 6. A Podkolzin, Draisaitl and Kane line would be unbelievable! Also having a Kane, Draisaitl and Perry line in the playoffs here and there would be so fun to watch.
What a great game tonight. As for Evander Kane, I really hope they keep him. Players like him don't come around often and he already has a good history with the Oilers. I guess I'm not all that happy with some of the latest trades. I mean, I still wish he kept McLeod and Foegele
One more thing. I hope they give Pickard more games before the playoffs.

On trading Kane…..if you had a solid idea of who they would acquire in trade for him would help. But he is exactly the type of player they need right now. Trent Frederic would be nice. But….in typical Oilers fashion they would probably trade him for some over the hill munchkin…..

Let’s be honest. As of right now this is not a contending team for the Cup. Last season they played above their ability in the playoffs. A horrible offseason that disrupted the team’s chemistry and made the team overall slower and older. An incredible core on this team with a lot of holes around it… Please no deadline desperation trades. Don’t buy, don’t necessarily sell either but honestly a mini re-tool could set this core up for success for next season and years to come. Desperate moves and more hopes and wishes will only handcuff this team more than it already is.
Can Pickard be the next Ranford? Would make for a Cinderella story, but those are highly unlikely..

They are just doing thier due diligence. Hes not going anywhwre unless…he has told management he wont sit out until playoffs even if it means he comes back before fully recovered and/or they believe he will never get back to pre wrist slash evander kane health ans abilities. Oilers desperately need that first season Kane, particularly in the playoffs. They are way to soft and easy to play against right now and will get absolutely pushed around when the whistles go away.
Prob time to start going with the hot hand in net. Let the tendy play until they lose. This wi oush skknner to ay better and also likely show if pickards numbers have been good because he gets the easy games and the rest in between or if hes actually playing well.

The oilers at this moment have no grit, no one stands up for anyone when they get taken out. Kane is needed as much as anyone says he isn’t. He is a true force in the playoffs, and just his attitude will push him through and make up for the time that was missed. That’s my two cents
