  1. Like Steve Dangle said about Barry Trotz, he's button mashing. Look, those Stamkos and Marchessault signings were crazy, but he's been such an odd GM.

  2. Rantanen is not getting moved unless the offer absolutely blows the Canes out of the water. Like any smart GM, Tulsky is just doing his due diligence on a pending UFA to see what the market is like. Teams do not trade for stars just to flip them after less than 15 games. Just doesn’t happen.

  3. Trotz continuing to prove that he was a much better coach than he is a GM. The Phil Jackson Phenomenon continues unabated.

  4. Really like Novak. Pens C depth past Sid and Geno has been spotty so this is a nice move for them

  5. The Canes honestly just need to man the hell up and keep Rantanen. They took a huge gamble in bringing him in, and they need to see it through. Trying to trade him now would reek of desperation and panic. They need to keep him past the deadline, let the man get used to living in Raleigh, and just let the playoff atmosphere at Lenovo Center sell him on the extension. My vote would be to not even bring up contract talks until after their season is over. Yes he could still walk in July…but even if that happens it won't be the end of the world. And the front office will have some freakin dignity for sticking to their guns. Right now we are putting WAY too much pressure on this guy to make a hasty decision. Let the man adjust for god's sake, he was just ripped away from a familiar environment of 10 years. The dude should honestly be talking to a therapist right now, not deciding on his future with the Canes.

  6. Sadly, here's what it's looking like in terms of playoffs:

    First round:
Winnipeg vs. either Calgary or Vancouver [potentially Flames]
    Dallas vs. Los Angeles
Vegas vs. Colorado [rematch of 2021]
    Minnesota vs. Edmonton
Washington vs. either Ottawa or New York Rangers
    Toronto vs. Columbus
Florida vs. New Jersey [rematch of 2012]
Tampa Bay vs. Carolina [rematch of 2021]

Teams that will LOSE the first round: Vancouver [if they get in], Winnipeg [if it's against Calgary], Dallas [SWEPT by LA], Vegas [swept by the Avalanche], Edmonton, Ottawa [if it's Capitals vs. Senators], Capitals [if it's a series against the Rangers], Columbus, New Jersey, Tampa Bay [SWEPT by the Hurricanes]

    Second round:
Winnipeg vs. Minnesota [rematch of 2018 if Winnipeg wins, if Winnipeg is eliminated in round 1, Minnesota will face the Avalanche]
Colorado vs. Los Angeles [if Winnipeg loses the first round to Calgary, Colorado will face Minnesota and Calgary will be forced to face the Kings]
Washington vs. Florida [if the Capitals eliminate the Senators, they face the Panthers, if the Rangers eliminate the Capitals, the Panthers will have to face the Hurricanes]
Toronto vs. Carolina [if the Rangers eliminate the Capitals, Toronto faces NYR]

Teams that will lose the second round: Calgary [if they sweep Winnipeg, they lose to the Kings in game 5], Minnesota [if Winnipeg is eliminated by the Flames, they will face the Avalanche and lose in game 6, if Winnipeg wins first round, the Avalanche face and eliminate the Kings], Washington [if they eliminate Ottawa, the Panthers will SWEEP them in the second round], Toronto [if the Rangers eliminate the Capitals, the Leafs will face them and lose in game 6], Florida [if the Capitals lose to the Rangers in round one, the Panthers will be forced to face the Hurricanes and end up losing the series in 6 games]

    Conference finals:

Winnipeg vs. Colorado [a rematch of last year, if the Jets lose first round, Avalanche faces the Wild in round two and face the Kings after the latter eliminates the Flames]
Carolina vs. New York Rangers [if the Rangers eliminate the Leafs in round two, they will face the Hurricanes]

Teams eliminated in conference finals: Colorado [if Winnipeg wins the first two rounds, Los Angeles if Colorado takes down Minnesota and the Flames fall to the Kings], Carolina [loses to the New York Rangers and the Rangers go to the Finals for the first time since 2014]

    Stanley Cup Finals:

Winnipeg Jets [or Colorado Avalanche] vs. the New York RANGERS

The heavily favored Canadian team Jets [potentially] up against the wild card NEW YORK RANGERS [the latter's first Finals appearance since 2014 when they lost to the Los Angeles Kings]. The Rangers last won a Stanley Cup in 1994 against Vancouver.

  7. Why are two non playoff team,Pittsburgh and Nashville trading players? What's the point.

  8. Shannon trying to sugar coat the fact that Desharnais is going to be out of the league in less than a year

  9. Hoping that Ovi can tie or break the record in San Jose; I waited until last week to buy tickets because at the beginning of the season I didn't know how close he'd be but then I started to worry that he'd be on a tear and be done with it before then. Fingers crossed for timing but even seeing a goal on the way to the chase would be worth it

  10. Do you remember the Vancouver Voodoo professional roller hockey team from the 90s? Have their jersey lol?

  11. Being in the stands of the Toronto/Vegas game. You didn’t miss aloft after the first ten minutes other than seeing that Toronto needs to fix the defense at the trade deadline or they are not going far. I kinda thought maybe something is going thru the locker room also, everyone pretty much looked off….

  12. Along with players names in these trades, an indication of their position would be a nice touch. That's all I have, as my team's GM is frozen.

  13. I'm an Avs fan, but I think that Landy should just give it up. I don't think he should "retire", he's perfectly entitled to claim the remainder of his contract – but, I don't think he should be trying to come back anymore.

He sacrificed his body during our cup winning season. He put it all on the line, every shift. He was our captain, through shining example and he was a huge part of "why" we won the SC that year. So, he's earned his money.

On the other hand, before he signed his contract, I (and many others) had pointed out that his style of play would lead to a huge danger of a career ending injury. He was never an "iron man", only playing 82 games twice (in his first and fourth seasons, so when he was very young). Previous, to signing his new deal, he had played only 54 games for 2 seasons in a row. Signing him for 8 years would be an insane risk. Avs knew this, and tried to stick to "only" 7 years – Landy held out for the 8th year. I think we all knew that, no matter what, he wouldn't be getting a new contract from anyone at age 35 after a 7 year deal. Avs did know that if we didn't give him the 7×8, there were a few other teams who would give him much more on a 7 year deal. So, we signed the deal with him, won our cup – now we have a perma-injured Landy on the squad.

Landy trying to come back creates a number of problems. First is, the Avs can't stop him from doing so. If he wants to push until he's considered "fit enough" – we have to allow this. This creates the next problem that we're never ever going to see peak 28 year old SC winning captain performances from him again. Now he's 32, the age at which a player, of his style of play, would statistically start to see major decline. He's never going to play up to a $7 million cap hit ever again – not even close. So that gives the final big problem, he's got the fourth highest cap hit, on the team, but there's no way he will be able to justify that on the ice.

I get that he wants to play again. I understand that he wants it so much that he's willing to play through the pain, in order to do so. But, he won't be doing it "for the Avs", he'll be doing it "for himself". The best thing he can do, for the team, is to just go sit on LTIR and enjoy his semi-retirement and the remaining years of his contract. Maybe even allow the Avs to trade him to a low/no tax state, so he'd be able to keep even more of his salary for himself….

  14. Luke shenn trade is confusing. Did Dubas do this to try to prevent the leafs from getting him?

  15. Thanks for the video! Great info, details, and insights! When the trade pool gets skimmed, you need to scrape right the bottom. Rantanan MIGHT wind up back with the Avs when all is said and done but it would have to be at a contract lower than what they had discussed before he left. Gabriel Landeskog deserves every chance he wants to take but at some point, it's like watching a car accident in the making. Good for Kerfoot squeezing that turnip. The Jack Hughes situation ends the Devils season, IMO, no matter what they do. I hope Ovi does it this season.

    Q. What's long and hard on a Caps player?

    A. Away games.

  16. Dubas quietly has the most picks in the next 3 years including 4 1sts and 15 picks in the first 3 rounds 👀 doing a great job behind the scenes despite all the hate

  17. Can you do a video on the Devils especially w/ losing Jack, rhe floundering after the break, who can we even get, should we just "reload" for next year, should we even go for mikko ? I just need to hear tour imput on their status

  18. I’m a Preds fan from Saskatoon so I’m a big fan of Schenn which makes me sad that he’s gone

  19. Leafs continuing to prove what their fans have been saying since the big signings began. MUCH TOO TOP HEAVY. MLSE NEEDS to change their ‘outlook’ !

  20. 100% agree that the Devils can't just give up because it sends a bad message to the players. I also think if they gave up, then Fitzgerald can kiss his job goodbye because fans wouldn't tolerate it. The bottom line is if you are in a playoff position at the deadline then you have to better your team, especially when one of your top players is out.

  21. Anybody has a clue as to when Adam Fox could be back? Expected return went from march 5th to 12th on Rotowire and I'm left wandering whether or not I should get rid of him for the last stretch of our pool. I read there are "solid chances" he gets back "before the end of the season". Anything more precise?

  22. Even with (American) football players, pretty rare to see them miss multiple seasons in a row. I know that hockey’s a very physically demanding sport, but what makes this such a problem with hockey, that I don’t think you really see in other sports? Also, couldn’t the Avs, if they really wanted to, buyout his contract and do a Bonilla (without the large amount of interest tacked on because of the Wilpon’s dealings with Madoff) and stretch out the remaining money over like 10-15 years?

  23. I was a vocal defender of the superiority of Gretzky over Ovechkin as a player, including the higher collective relevance of the goals he scored.

But as Gretzky is now completely under the spell of his BFF the Orange Dungball, and abandoned any detectable connection to his homeland, and most genuine, ardent fans, then I'm more than fine with his name being replaced on as many records as possible.
….especially if it turns out to be by Russians, as they seem to best represent his new circle of friends.

  24. One key factor for Landy not retiring is that they can just keep him on LTIR and not have his money count towards the cap. If he retirees, his salary does count against the cap – which would greatly hurt the team.
