It's highly unlikely that the Leafs will win the Cup this season, as has been the situation for years. Management needs decide if Marner and or Tavares should be extended. The players need to prove themselves in the playoffs. I don't blame Brad because I don't believe he was allowed to change core players previously. The Leafs have options after this season and I don't want them to sacrifice the future this trade deadline. It would be futile. I look forward to seeing what happens. This Leaf team, unchanged, could go on a deep playoff run and I hope they're even better the next few years.
My whole life used to revolve around watching the Leafs but it got harder and harder to find the games on my TV, even on Saturdays. Then team Canada did rape in London 5 mins from were I live. I no longer watch or even follow the leafs.

Funny, but just because we are not hearing anything doesn't mean Treliving hasn't been trying to find a deal. Perhaps the idiots saying that the asking price from the Leafs is always higher than normal may just be right because the other idiots out there are demanding that they trade away all the future for today. I think BraaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaD!! is holding out til next year when they can clear away one of the core four contracts. They are going to go into the playoffs with basically the team they have and push as far as they can. I figure that won't be more than the 2nd round. In the summer they will get rid of the Tavares contract and use that money to get a top 3 defenseman and a quality 2 line centre.
Being from ontario, now live in bc, i can honestly say…… Leaf fans are willfully ignorant. I love the leafs too. BUT…… I also see the difference tween a winning team and BLIND FAITH THAT THEY ARE WINNING THE CUP EBERY YEAR. Leaf fans are like the captain. They deserve to win. Not WILLING THEMSELVES TO WIN. Hard work beats talent when talent refuses to WORK HARD. Love you Steve, but should have one the series……. Is exactly the problem with the fans and the team. What are your thoughts on allowing Matthews, Marner, and Nylander take a week off to recharge given they've all participated in the four nations face off? Yeah we might fall in the standings but we will make the playoffs. Considering that's all that matters.. wouldn't it be better just to be focused on that
Not once have I regarded the Leafs as anything but an outsider in terms of the Stanley Cup. I would put at least six teams ahead of them. Probably closer to eight.
Florida, Tampa, Washington, Carolina, Winnipeg (admittedly, they have to prove themselves in the playoffs) for sure, Dallas, Colorado, Las Vegas; Los Angeles, Edmonton (who don't look great either right now) are all arguably more likely to win
