  1. I mean I know financially this wouldn’t make much sense. But McDavids been struggling this year (to his level) and so has Mikko. Mikko is used to playing a fast paced system with Mac who’s the other fastest skater in the league. I think he’d fit in with Edmonton and Connor but I just don’t know what in the fuck Edmonton would give up

  2. The Leafs don't need another high end offensive talent… so they'll probably pick him up and then blow another year

  3. I wouldn’t trade Knies for Rantanen without an extension and even then I’d hesitate. Knies won’t cost half of what Miko wants, and that cap space means another quality piexe

  4. I'm hoping for the insanity universe where the Avs trade Middelstadt for Mikko, with CHI retaining salary, win the cup and sign him in the offseason 😂

    I can dream, can't I?

  5. For me the dark horse destination would be my canucks, theyre willing to move Petterson, so maybe him and a 2nd for rantenen?

  6. I know to get Rantanen the leafs would probably have to trade Knies, but honestly I think I’d pass if that’s how it would have to. Rantanen is obviously better than Knies at the moment but Knies is our top young player right now and is going to fill a need for us on that left wing. Rantanen would be awesome but that that price I think it’s a luxury we can’t afford

  7. I remember Vanek ending up with the Habs in that likely Stanley Cup run had Price not been injured by Kreider in the conf final, when the backup goalie was already injured (Budaj), which meant Tokarski had to get on the ice for his first game ever in such circumstance. Vanek traded from Buffalo to another team then ended up 2 weeks later in Montreal. But I haven't seen such often otherwise.

  8. As am avs fan, please for the love of God don't let mikko go to Dallas 🙏🙏🙏

  9. I don't think it makes sense for any team to trade for him now. He has not looked good in Carolina, do you want to risk getting that version of him? And give up solid roster players for him? I'm a Leafs fan and wouldn't want to lose McMann or Knies for him. The idea of Dallas giving up Robertson would be insane, guy is amazing.

When the trade first happened I thought it was a clear win for the Canes. Now though, it could go down as one of the worst in their history. If they do trade him, I can't see them getting anywhere close to what they gave up for him

  10. The leafs only get rantannen if they can get him at a steal. Which I seriously doubt. If they could trade him for cheap I’d bet my money on it they’d pick an offer from the west over the east

  11. to me, the canes seem to be one of the most desirable markets to play in throughout the next 5 years, i dont see why players arent interested in playing there, especially rantanen. nice weather, good d core, solid goaltending and theyre in a position to win. just odd

  12. This is like the perfect storm to open up a path for the Capitals to the Conference Finals this season. First, the Rangers completely self destruct late in 2024. Then Carolina trades Necas for Rantanen, and then possibly trades away Rantanen (and if Rantanen stays, he hasn't looked nearly as good as people had hoped for). Now New Jersey loses Hughes for the regular season and postseason. That's after Markstrom's injury allowed Columbus to get within four points of New Jersey. It's like the division is creating a path for Washington to the Conference Final.

But then they'll probably run into Florida or Tampa, both of whom have made huge win now moves in the last week. Which puts huge pressure on Toronto to make a move. But it also means that Washington, despite being the top team in the conference in both points and points percentage, is a distant third when it comes to cup chances for the conference (you gotta keep Washington ahead of Toronto, even if Toronto trades for Rantanen, because it's Toronto). Not only have both Tampa and Florida made big moves recently, but both are recent Cup winners. But as for the Capitals division, all of their serious competition seem like they're self destructing (or being destroyed by injuries as is NJ's unfortunate situation).

  13. It’s ridiculous—hockey media hates the idea of a Canes Cup run and is trying to encant them into stupidly moving Moose. Not going to happen. Even if we can sign him, he’ll be great for us in the playoffs. (But I suspect we can keep him if he and the team ladies can sell his girlfriend on Raleigh.)

  14. "Leafs could be serious cup contenders" is the most ridiculous thing I've heard you say all season 🤣

  15. Please, for the love of all that is pure and holy, do not trade Matthew Knies. The kid is just coming into his own and looks like the next Zach Hyman but even stronger on the boards.

  16. Newsflash – he's at Dallas for 8 years. Couldn't have gone to a worse place for Avs fans.

  17. Rantanen must have a damn headache with all the traveling he's experienced this season.
