I'd say knowing this, Alvain just shielded us from another Louie Eirickssen level bullet here. Kotkaniemi is way too much money for a bottom 6 forward who was supposed to be so much more, but never realized it. I'd rather we have Boesser, our prospects, and our cap space intact to try and resign our UFAs then a cap space killer who'll underperform most likely and was an obvious overpriced cap dump for Carolina, who's just trying to get rid of a cap space killer bad contract player.
i kinda ranted yesterday, but the Florida thing is what it is. The Carolina thing, if they are shielding their good young players from getting traded , then good job for them . MIght not have gotten picks for expiring players, but at least they didnt empty the cupboard either…or buy at the deadline with the position they are in . I guess in hindsight standing pat is ALOT better than giving up futures when you are in a wildcard position .
Marchand is also 8 years older. His wheels are about to fall off.
After a day of reckoning I'm okay with the Canucks standing pat. It is much better than doing a Benning and making things much worse.
If the deal was Boeser and a prospect for KK and a 1st, I'd have to see what the prospect was, but if it's any of the top 3, not a chance. KK is too expensive and we'd just be helping Carolina out more than anything.
I said yesterday that I bet all the teams that were interested in Boeser and offering anything reasonable would also be asking for a prospect.
Thank god we didnt lose Boeser for Kotkaniemi whos never scored more then 18 goals and dosnt look like he will ever surpass that. It was a bad trade back in the offseason and a bad trade now.
2:40 it starts
Losing one of our top prospects is a non starter. Still, maybe selling Brock for cheaper might have been better if we can't sign him
It still doesn't make any sense unless Boeser agrees to stay for a lesser contract similar to DeBrusk's. If he doesn't, Allvin held onto him when a second round pick would have at least been something. It appears that the relationship is now broken unless Allvin was speaking the truth when he stated that he disclosed the offers to Brock's agent. If that is indeed the case, let's just hope that his friendship with Petey is strong enough to entice him to re-sign here. However, in the off-season it may only take one phone call from a certain former linemate that was traded to the Rangers, to coax him to sign there instead.
If Boeser wants big money then he had better start producing.
Brock sucks, no team in wants him for that much
Should have just taken the best 2nd round pick we could get, and straight up for Boeser.
Unless there's a deal where the Canucks benefited there is no basis for a trade. Keep Brock and ride it out and see if the team can make the playoffs. Everybody that was hyperventilating yesterday are emotionally driven without the facts. ALlvin and his chipmunks have had zero issues making trades when there was one to be had.
Should of traded Boeser for Coyle and Marchand 😂
I’m guessing that prospect is probably was either Raty or Lekks, since Carolina is missing a few RW in their pipeline. But for Vancouver to say no because of a prospect, that prospect probably is top five in our pipeline
