He won the Stanley Cup in 2011, and joins a team that ended Boston’s season in 2023 and 2024. 1. This is going to be awesome ! Glad to have Brad. This reminds me of Patric Hornqvist which will reinforce the winning culture. A great move by Bill Zito, who I believe is the best hockey G.M. in the league right now.

  2. Looks better in yellow 😢 I thought for sure he’d retire a Bruin.
He wants a cup, the current Bruins roster is lacking. They did him a favor trading him to a better team.

  3. Not that it matters, you look to loyalty and get handed crap as usual. Poisoned by greed and agents who could care less of the fans who pay these clowns.
Someday it would be great if fans not to show up and these clowns will get the message. That is all sports. Boycotting should be considered.

  4. Oh, here we go. I, Don Sweeney, the genius behind this brilliant trade, am here to explain myself—though frankly, I don’t even know why I should. Brad Marchand? Yeah, I traded him. Big deal. You think I don’t know what I’m doing? You think I need to keep a player who’s, what, getting old and still getting suspended every other week? Please. I saw the future—the future—and it’s full of shiny, new players who don’t throw elbows or get fined for looking at refs the wrong way.

So sure, everyone’s flipping out like I sold the last bottle of maple syrup in Canada, but newsflash: I’m Don Sweeney. I make moves that people can’t understand right away. In five years, when we’re hoisting the Cup and you’re all still trying to figure out what a cap hit is, I’ll be sipping my victory latte, and you’ll be like, "Wow, Don, you were so right!"

I’m not sorry. I’m not even remotely sorry. You want a shiny, perfect roster? Go root for someone else. I’m over here playing 3D chess while everyone else is stuck on checkers. Yeah, Marchand was a fan favorite, but guess what? I didn’t need to hold onto a fan favorite. I needed to hold onto the future. And the future doesn’t throw punches at people, it makes sweet, sweet cap space.

So, go ahead—keep complaining. It’ll be adorable when you realize I’ve already won. You’ll thank me later.

    -Don sweeny
