@Stars de Dallas

1. Essentially Carolina traded Drury, Necas, Rantanen, ‘25 2nd, ‘26 4th for Taylor Hall, Stankoven, 2 1st rd conditional picks & 3rd rd picks in ‘26 & ‘27….pretty tough look for Carolina.

    If I were an avalanche fan, I would be pissed more at the management for not offering Rantanen more money. The rumor was that they just didn’t really want to pay him more than Nathan McKinnon, which is just stupid because I’m sure McKinnon would’ve been like, “pay him”! And it probably would’ve been more than $96 million so I don’t know even though it’s tax-free income state in Texas, Colorado should’ve paid up.

  2. Lmfao what???? Johnston? Our future captain? And Stanky? Not in a million years. Maybe those two for McDavid. Maybe.

  3. Couple things, Rants didn’t want to sign a long term deal to play dump and chase hockey, Dallas is a possession team and Rants a possession player. Rants is now part of the Finnish mafia in Dallas, culture is super important. Now most will be together for the remainder of their careers.

  4. Dude you are legit smoking crack if you EVER thought that Dallas or Jim Nill would have EVER allowed Johnston to be traded to Carolina, that was NEVER going to happen, if they demanded both then this deal would NOT have happened period and Carolina would prob be struggling with Mikko who clearly never wanted to be apart of their team for various reasons so he would have gone to the free market and ended up possibly getting paid 13-15 mil from a crap team like Chicago IF he didnt care about being on a crap team. Thing is, I do believe his pride wants him to be on a true contending team and he KNOWS that Dallas is a cup contender and he wanted to be apart of that along with having some very good friends in Dallas like Roope, Esa, Miro etccc. I do think it was possible that Carolina might have demanded both Logan and Mavrik BUT NOT Wyatt, that was never going to happen and honestly prob would not have tolerated trading both bourque and stankoven too. Dallas def got the better end of the deal but Carolina didn't get ripped off.

  5. Rantenen's agent convinced him he was worth more. After two teams told him he was full of shit, he had to recalibrate his expectations.

  6. If Carolina doesn't get a real NHL General Manager….soon. Tulsky may trade Aho & Svechnikov for another washed up 4th liner…or more Nathan Gerbe 2.0s Tulsky has made Canes a laughing stock of the NHL..

  7. Poor evaluation of this trade. It's like the light-bulb has never been turned on in your brain, dude.

  8. No way in hell Dallas parts with Johnston let alone Johnston And Stankhoven. As a fan of both teams and all things considered I think it was a win-win-win. I like what Carolina tried to do and swing for the fences with Rants, Necas is a good player but they are not getting past the caps, panthers, tampa if they keep him even if he has 1 year left on his deal next year. Swinging for the fences with Rants was the only way Carolina can attract a generational talent and lay claim as a true contender in the east. Ultimately getting a top 6 forward and 2 first for Necas and Drury is a very good return even if its not what the canes wanted. It makes it hard as these are my teams, but the the only way I think Carolina does better here if it's Stankhoven, Borque and a first, which I think could've been realistic but I think Nill still says no to that. The reason I said win-win-win earlier, is I think that Carolina, Dallas and Colorado all got players that will fit their system nicely. If the Rantanen extension didn't take so much time I think we wouldve been in on other deals maybe Boeser or petterson.
