Not a Leafs fan in the least, but Kipper is right. If they win the Cup or go deep, he likely signs. If they're out in the first round, he walks.

After the playoffs last year everyone and their brother was ready to throw him under the bus, call for his trade.. Love Mitch Marner and I hope he stays. if he decides to go, I still have a lot of respect for him and I hope he does well. Toronto fans I'm one of you, get over it. If he Stays awesome, if he doesn't it freeze up $10 million worth of money to spend on someone else. That's the game

Matthews & Nylander’s agent did not go on radio to publicly call out one of their teammates right after signing a contract. Gimme a break Kyp… the residuals from Quartexx must be something else.
This is really straight forward and I’m surprised no one else had realized it! Marker is looking to maximize his salary while looking like he too a home town discount! He’ll get offers that are significantly higher, he’ll resign for the leafs for a little less and make it look like a hero! Not going to free agency would not show how much some teams are willing to overpay in a rising cap..he’ll get more from the leafs by taking less from them than he could have gotten somewhere else.
I must be alone but I feel like this is the worst The Leafs have looked in like 4 seasons.
