Rutherford and Co underestimated how fundamentally broken the Canucks were when they took over. The team got a boost from a new coach (when has that ever not happened?) and now we're seeing what the team really is. But I don't blame Rutherford or Alvin. How were they supposed to know how bad things were? They were probably told, but you only know until you see it with your own eyes.

If on-ice performances aren't there, then the team has no choice but to prop up their other avenues of entertainment. ie. Milk the trade deadline and free agency for all it's worth.

Supply and demand. In the entertainment business you will make no money if there is no demand. In the Canucks case ..If you supply a boring style play with poor actors you will lose demand quickly. The owners will feel it when they start losing money in the investment. Solution – Finish the season then gut the entire management team top to bottom. Make a long term plan that works around Hughes. This should include great scouts , A new style ( coaching ). Contracts with performance clause. Less DEI in medical staff and rehabilitation. Less media access.
